Position SummaryWe are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented
Site Safety Manager (SSM) licensed by the NYC Department of Buildings to oversee on-site safety compliance for active construction projects. The SSM will play a critical role in implementing site-specific safety plans, performing safety inspections, and ensuring compliance with NYC DOB Chapter 33, OSHA standards, and other applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the designated Site Safety Manager on NYC construction sites as required by the Department of Buildings.
- Implement, enforce, and maintain the site-specific Construction Health and Safety Plan.
- Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and reporting.
- Maintain and update the DOB Site Safety Log and all required documentation.
- Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, and project managers to resolve safety-related issues.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and incident investigations.
- Liaise with NYC DOB and other agencies during inspections and site visits.
- Ensure proper training and certification of all workers on site.
- Identify potential hazards and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
Requirements- Valid NYC Site Safety Manager license issued by the NYC Department of Buildings.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in site safety on NYC construction projects.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health Certification (OSHA 500/510 preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of NYC DOB Chapter 33 regulations and OSHA standards.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and maintain detailed records.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable with digital safety management tools (e.g., Procore, iAuditor, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications- Degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field.
- Experience on high-rise or major infrastructure projects in NYC.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) designation.
