Full Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer to support federal facility assessment and hurricane recovery work in Kauai, Hawaii. Field teams may inspect damaged structures and roofs, address water intrusion, clear debris, and repair utilities while site conditions continue to change. You will spend time where the work happens, identifying hazards, helping crews plan safe activities, and verifying that controls remain effective as new tasks begin. Working closely with construction managers and subcontractors, you will document observations and corrective actions and help the team respond promptly to emerging risks.
This role will require an onsite presence in Kauai, Hawaii and is eligible for per diem related expenses when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct routine site inspections, safety observations, and pretask briefings across active work areas.
• Identify hazards related to damaged buildings, roofing, utilities, debris, equipment, and moisture mitigation.
• Review activity plans and help field teams implement appropriate controls and personal protective equipment.
• Document inspections, training, incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with construction managers and subcontractors to address unsafe conditions promptly.
• Support incident investigations and reinforce site safety and health requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, construction management, engineering, or a related field and 4+ years of field safety and health support on construction or infrastructure projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.
• Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
• 8+ years of field safety and health support on construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience applying EM 385-1-1 on federal construction projects.
• OSHA 30 construction training or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) credential.
