Job Description

The Greenville Site Director will lead the Avient Protective Materials Greenville (NC) site ensuring high quality product is available for the marketplace. This key role will focus on controlling production operations while maintaining regulatory compliance. He/She will continually improve work practices to improve efficiency and productivity while driving employee engagement and continuous improvement.

Provides direction to the Avient Protective Materials operational departments. Accountable for ensuring all programs and systems are in compliance with regulatory requirements. The Site Director is responsible for operations that are part of a global organization with manufacturing facilities in Heerlen, Greenville and Laiwu.

Market Dynamics: This is a high demand global market with the demand far greater than supply capabilities. Manufacturing capacity is a bottleneck, and the challenge is to improve and increase quality and output in various ways. New product applications are being identified which will only increase demand.

Technology Challenges: The production processes/technologies are unique and can still mature further. Information sharing is critical to ensure knowledge transfer occurs between our global manufacturing operations.

Organizational Characteristics and Dynamics: The Avient Protective Materials organization is growing at a high rate. Employment and the number of plants on site have increased significantly to meet market demand. New management, information and training systems are being designed and implemented to manage this growth.

Responsibilities

  • 1. The site leader has the responsibility for him/her and for all site employees to:
    a) Show behavior in line with the SHE and Security risks and agreed controls, including being compliant to Avient and specific Avient Protective Materials requirements, rules and procedures

  • 2. The site leader shall have experience in Process Safety and Process Hazards Analysis. Champion a safety culture and continuously improve processes and engagement.
  • 3. Be a Site leader of 450+ employees, responsible for all functions on site, and work collaboratively with the broader Avient organization.
  • 4. Enhance team and site performance to new levels of excellence building a strong Avient culture.
  • 5. Develop a succession plan through development of key talents within the organization.
  • 6. Manage and achieve operating budgets, drive process improvements according to manufacturing excellence standards leading to yield and quality improvements and cost reductions.
  • 7. Drive daily operations to a high level of performance exceeding customers' expectations in on time delivery and quality.
  • 8. Ensure compliance to all regulations and Avient security, safety and health standards. Maintain annual training requirements on hazardous waste. Comply with all job-related, safety, and other training requirements in a timely manner.
  • 9. Represent site and engage cross functionally across Avient.
  • 10. Ensure capital expansion projects and scaleup of new products, processes and technologies are completed effectively on time and within budget.
    Authorities
  • 1. Responsible for signing all legally binding contracts as President of Avient Protective Materials (APM).
    2. Responsible for releasing payment batches for APM.
    3. Responsible for compliance with export/import requirements for APM.
    4. Point of contact for US Governmental authorities at the Greenville Avient Protective Materials facility (i.e. Defense Contact Management Agency; Department of Defense; US Customs; etc.)
    5. Responsible for Avient Protective Materials local public relations and community involvement.
    6. Authorized to approve work permits per detail included in DYNPRO SHE DYN 026. If so authorized, employees must maintain necessary refresher training to participate in these activities
