Job Title:
Site Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance Engineer

Reporting To:
Director & GM, Space Sector BU

Work Schedule:
Onsite - Chatsworth, CA

We're hiring a Site Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance Engineer for the SDG Group in Chatsworth, CA. You will be responsible for implementation of site Environmental Health and Safety tasks. Scope of work includes managing EHS programs, leading EHS required training, ensuring chemical use/hazard/risk data is collected and interpreted for reporting, and implementing and integrating all related EHS management systems into facility processes.

To be considered for the Site Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance Engineer role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, safety, chemical, engineering, or related field
  • Must have the ability to access U.S. export-controlled information
  • 5+ years of progressive environmental, health and safety experience in a manufacturing or production related environment including the following:
    • Identifying hazards, assessing risk and provide options to eliminate or minimize the hazards/risks.
    • Proven ability to interpret EHS data and act.
    • Experience writing clear and concise site EHS programs.
    • Experience implementing EHS programs.
    • Experience performing EHS gap assessments and the ability to prioritize findings.
    • Experience creating (or modifying existing training) and conducting training in regulatory compliance topics appropriate to the region and job scope in EHS.
    • Experience conducting root cause investigations and corrective action analysis for EHS incidents and near misses.
  • Ability to work onsite in Chatsworth, CA (remote candidates will not be considered).


Preferred Qualifications Include:
  • Certifications in EHS (CHMM, CSP, ASP, etc.)
  • Comfortable in a hands-on manufacturing shop floor environment
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to influence
  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to interact with all levels within the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate successfully to train others and modify standard regulatory training courses with software programs such as Articulate, PowerPoint, etc.


As a Site Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance Engineer, you will:
  • Arrange for and ensure the precise collection and calculation of all environmental/safety data across the site and create, finalize and submit regulatory reports. Monitor process owners to assure compliance procedures associated with afore mentioned reports are being implemented and maintained. Example data: biological, radiation, chemical, noise, exhaust systems, emissions, waste characteristics, etc.
  • Identify hazards and analyze the risks associated with hazards across operations.
  • Create or modify EHS procedures and audit programs to help manage and lower the hazards/risks.
  • Create, maintain, and deliver EHS training programs to assure applicable parties are trained.
  • Review and interpret EHS regulations affecting the operating group and propose options that will assist with the creation and implementation of compliant processes and procedures.
  • Provide the employees/supervisors guidance that develops compliant solutions, new techniques, and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Implement, complete, and take action to help ensure regulatory permit requirements, reporting data and EHS management system procedures are continuously monitored and updated as changes occur to maintain compliance.
  • Support emergency response activities and be capable to lead the team. Expected to be on-call for emergencies.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies relative to EHS inspections, inquiries and associated corrective action plans. Then follows up on concerns / findings identified.
  • Complete all required submissions for internal and external EHS requests (ex. ESG energy usage, OSHA reporting, etc.)
  • Support and work in conjunction with the Site Leadership Team, Corporate EHS Management, and other Operating Group EHS team members as needed.

Salary Range Transparency:
Chatsworth, CA $125,000.00-$155,000.00 Annually
