Job Description

The Plant Engineering Team Manager oversees Operations Engineering including, Process, Tooling, Maintenance, upgrades, new installations and innovation. The role is central to maintaining and improving the plant's infrastructure, supporting the production of Fords powertrains, and ensuring operational efficiency

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
  • Responsible for all core engineering activities across the site (Windsor Engine Plant) and Essex Engine Plant).
  • Core areas including Process, Tooling, Capacity, Facilities, Maintenance and Innovation.
  • Managing the required resources for Operations support and program deliveries.
  • Coordination for all launch activities, including strategy and capacity planning.
  • Program planning and control and delivery, including metrics tracking, cost / Long Lead Funding, timing, issue resolution, PSW, ROC and all other program issues.
  • Deliver Program following GPDS timing strategy.
  • Liase with New Model Launch department for 15 Panel chart and Program Healthchart input.
  • Responsible to consolidate Plant input for T&L Meeting and EPBR.
  • Approve Purchase Requisitions & RECAPs.
  • Perform supervisory duties (e.g. TMM, performance reviews, travel requests, timecard approvals) for all personnel assigned - and participate in performance reviews Drive linkage with support groups (e.g. tooling, gauging, IT, MP&L, Plant Engineering, Productivity, etc.).
  • Maintain Strategies and Bill of Process to maintain consistency across programs.
  • Quality Health Chart assessment & High Hurts prioritization.
  • Incorporate continuous improvements utilizing ME Lessons Learned.
  • Drive resolution of major issues after Build Purchase Order placement.
  • Development and selection of suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Lead Engineering Peer Review meetings.
  • Lead procurement of all equipment to support new programs and/or CIB Projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement mindset in all SQDCME objectives.
  • Establish and maintain consistent priorities to fully utilize engineering resources in the most efficient manner.
  • Lead and support CR (Concept Ready) / IR (Implementation Ready) activities.
  • Ensure engineering disciplines across all departments.
  • FPS principles, plant RTO, JPH planning and capacity planning, support plant project writing.
  • Be the innovation lead for the site and champion new technology and equipment introductions.


Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering.

Experience:
  • 5+ years as a Plant Engineering Manager / Facility Engineering Manager.
  • 5+ years leading professional engineers and skilled trades within an automotive manufacturing environment, preferably Union.
