The Site Dental Director provides clinical oversight to the direct services and direct care staff regarding clinical policies, and procedures. Provides direct supervision to Mid-level Practitioner and Residents; serves as a mentor and provides clinical support to members of the Dental Team. Provides diagnosis and treatment to patients in a manner consistent with the Dental license, specialty, and level of experience. This position may oversee the Dental Residency program.

DENTIST

• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, co-workers, health care professionals, funders, and other regulatory agencies.

• Awareness of resources available within the health center to accommodate the needs of patients. • Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.
• Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed conditions. • Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
• Directs and coordinates the patient care activities.
• Performs quarterly chart audits.
• Completes staff reviews.
• Attend required meetings.
• Works closely with Director of Dental Operations.
• Responsible for training and orientation of all Dentists and Hygienists.
• Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals in area of expertise.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Management Team

Minimum Qualifications:
• DDS or DMD from an accredited Dental School

If Limited Licensed must have a min. of 2 yrs. AEGD or GPR successfully completed residency program. • Licensed in Massachusetts to practice Dentistry.
• Minimum of three years professional experience
• Public Health experience preferred.
• CPR certified or equivalent
• Physical requirements include near visual acuity to observe changes in health/illness status of patients.
• Manual skills required include good eye and hand coordination in combination with finger dexterity for administration of injections, treatments, etc.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high when using mechanical hand pieces.
