Primary Function:The Shop Floor Lead is responsible for leading daily operations of machining work cells, supporting machinists, and driving process improvements in support of Sigma Design's client's engineering activities. The Shop Floor Lead will provide technical support in the form of documentation, troubleshooting, and design reviews as required. In addition, this role will be responsible for training, mentoring and providing feedback to the team
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:Leadership Responsibilities - Execute daily operations of machining work cells to ensure productivity and efficiency.
- Keep team on task and actively ensure all team members are engaged.
- Communicate open capacity, resource availability, tooling, and work holding needs to appropriate stakeholders
- Continuously improve programming processes for greater accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist machinists with machine setup and production runs as needed.
- Operate machines when required to support team workflow and meet production goals.
- Assist in training team members and ensure adherence to established guidelines, processes, and procedures.
- Exhibit team leadership and supervisory skills.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment; enforce safety and cleanliness protocols.
Programming Responsibilities - Utilize G or M code and CAM software (HyperMill and Mastercam).
- Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, models, and design data to develop CNC programs, setup sheets, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates.
- Identify and escalate design issues, insufficient engineering detail, and make recommendations for technical resolution. • Continuously improve programming processes for greater accuracy and efficiency.
- Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years recent and relevant work experience required. Experience in the related area as a manager or supervisor is a plus.
- Expertise in Mastercam, HyperMill, and G/M code.
- Understanding of GD&T symbols and their application.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings. • Basic math skills and experience with application of GD&T.
- Computer literacy skills including: spreadsheets, networks, web navigation, and ERP functionality
- Ability to follow strict engineering direction.
- Detail oriented with a focus on quality, execution and follow through.
- Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
- Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.

Work EnvironmentStandard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
