Job Description

Position Summary:

Schedules and coordinates flow of work in the back end operations (shipping/receiving, will own the daily ship plan etc) to expedite production by performing the following duties. Provide focus, direction and leadership for the Shipping/Receiving function. Supervise, direct activities, monitor productivity, measure progress and set expectations regarding safety, productivity, quality and schedule.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Reviews master production schedule with Production Control Manager.
  • Supervisor, and discusses job orders; establishes priorities for specific customer orders.
  • Oversees production control functions when supervisor is unavailable.
  • Revises schedule according to traveler specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.
  • Supports with auditing and tracking incoming travelers into the ERP backlog/ Workload.
  • Updates and lead ship call backlog on a daily basis.
  • Confers with department supervisors and attends production meetings to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from operations departments, process control, or engineering departments.
  • Compiles reports concerning progress of work and downtime due to failures of machines and equipment to apprise production planning personnel of production delays.
  • Reviews travelers when jobs are completed in department and schedules move tags to transfer material to the next dept. operation process.
  • Ensure operators or designee update Daily Production Reports.
  • Enters data from Lean Projects, DPR, down time sheets and creates metrics and charts.
  • Schedule and manage employees for departmental forklift operators/drivers. Managerial duties include and are not limited to performance reviews, disciplinary action, employee trainings, investigations, and timecard administration.
  • Manages all shipping/receiving/trucking personnel to ensure conformance to established metrics (Safety, TOC, Dock Targets, Productivity and Cost) and adherence to procedures (PC's).
  • Reserve material for shipments and record documentation appropriately.
  • Trains Production Control personnel in the various tasks needed to support the department, including but not limited to processing change orders; obtaining quotes, writing purchase orders, and following up with outside processing; shipping; master milestone; conversion milestone; exception reports; job release procedures; and split-off travelers.
  • Manages shipping schedules based on customer requirements as determined by Sales and Production Control.
  • Manage freight costs. Monitors reports and metrics to improve on time performance and reduce wait time.
  • Provides direction to Production Supervision relative to receive/dock/shipping targets on a daily basis.
  • Participates in daily shipping meetings and prepares daily shipping lists to support shipping forecasts.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems; initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals; enforces safety regulations; initiates and maintains 6S and Lean initiatives.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or similar field
  • 2-3 years of planning experience in manufacturing
  • Experience in manufacturing environment accepted in lieu of degree
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Understanding of transportation regulations/guidelines.
  • Experience working with forklifts and cranes
  • Computer proficiency in ERP systems (ORACLE preferred), Discoverer and Excel
  • Active and licensed Class C driver with a clean driving record

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $80,000 to $120,000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
