Full Job Description
We are seeking an individual who is passionate about joining a team in the manufacturing of high quality laminates and films used in a variety of applications including on cabinetry in kitchen and bath applications, countertops and paneling in recreational vehicles and in the enhancement of interior retail spaces.

The Safety Health Environmental and Security (SHE&S) Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating EHS components for personnel, materials, equipment, and environment to achieve environmental and safety effectiveness for the company. This position reports to the Plant Manager. This individual will lead progressive safety and environmental programs at the SURTECO Auburn facility.

Direct Reports: SHE&S Specialist

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Leads a safety team which includes the SHE&S Specialist
• Complete yearly performance reviews with regular check-ins throughout the year.
• Manage PTO requests, time, attendance, etc. for the safety team.
• Assists HR in conflict resolution and disciplinary actions as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and maintain environmental and safety management programs to assure compliance with

all safety, health and environmental permits, laws, regulations, and company policy.
• Preparation of required federal, state, and local reporting for the plant. Reports may include

Title V air emission inventories, compliance certifications, annual waste, NPDES and POTW, Tier

II and TRI reports, etc.
• Partner with regional and global SHE&S leaders to assure compliance with environmental

permits and standards.
• Maintain interactive and positive relationships with local regulatory agencies.
• Perform audits and inspections of plant operations and programs to ensure compliance with

standards applicable to the plant (Environmental, Safety/PSM, Responsible Care, ISO 9001,

TSCA, RMP, etc.), and to ensure safe operations; provide plant leadership and guidance in these

areas.
• Manage the development and maintenance of programs and/or processes that assure

conformance with SURTECO Safety Standards and Environmental Management Standards.
• Prepare periodic safety and environmental reporting documents as required, including OSHA,

EPA, other safety, and health records and all SURTECO required safety, health, environmental

and security reporting.
• Lead or participate in incident investigations as needed and track corrective actions. Risk rank

and track all SHE&S corrective/preventive actions.
• Schedule and conduct required safety, health, environmental and security training.
• Manage the facility workers' compensation claims in collaboration with the HR department.
• Be an integral part of the plant leadership team which requires the individual to: develop SHE&S

annual operating and strategic plans; coordinate and interact with other department

managers; and serve as facilitator for the site central safety committee.
• Manage and develop on-site SHE&S team members
• Responsible for developing, executing, and sustaining the site SHE&S plan

RCRA, TSCA, SARA, CWA, RCRA, TSCA, and DOT rules and regulations, Microsoft computer

applications (word processing, spreadsheet, and database), technical/program writing, training

and presentations skills, project management.
• Must be watchful and highly vigilant, maintaining high ethical standards. Have the ability to:

work collaboratively in a small group setting, deal tactfully with people, negotiate to maximize

the benefits to the organization, make oneself understood by others, listen to suggestions of

others, be able to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization and develop

personal credibility.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field required.
• Candidates with professional certification (CSP, CIH, etc.) a plus.
• At least 5 years of safety, health, and environmental experience preferred
• At least 5 years of manufacturing industry with EHS regulatory knowledge.

Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds as needed.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
• Frequently positions self to use/maintain personal protective equipment.
• Comfortable with working in a manufacturing environment alongside machines, equipment, etc.

Time spent away from home or typical office location.
