Position Summary
- Under the direction of the Case Management Executive Director, System Manager, or designee, the Behavioral Health (BH) Case Management (CM) supervisor is delegated certain responsibilities and authority for managing the ECU Health BH CM team.
- The position is responsible for the management of human, fiscal and other resources, the development of personnel, compliance with regulatory standards, assisting with strategic planning and the fostering of interdisciplinary collaborative relationships within various divisions and service lines within the organization and external referral sources.
- The supervisor is a leadership position with direct and indirect patient care responsibilities.
- This position will be directly responsible for the BH CM aff including selection, orientation, development and evaluations in collaboration with the System Manager, or designee.
- By utilizing leadership skills, the BH CM Supervisor assists System CM Leadership in promoting safe, cost effective, quality patient care on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
Direct supervision of the Behavioral Health and ED Case Management teams and the triage and placement of patients in the ECU Health System Emergency Department's with mental illness, substance use disorders, or intellectual disabilities. Oversees the intake process from outside referrals and from in-house referrals.
Provide oversight and support to ensure staffing needs/assignments are made according to workload, staff competency, and scope of practice, including personally covering shifts as needed. Delegate responsibilities within the scope of practice and validated competencies in order to meet the workload demands. Travel to various system Emergency Department's to ensure satisfactory performance and behavioral expectations are met and further develop ongoing relationships with multidisciplinary team members.
Create processes to anticipate and address specific situations within the department, including long stay patients, post-acute resource referral lists, denials, and termination of benefits. Identify improvement opportunities within the department and at the system level and create strategies to address them.
Assist with evaluating effectiveness of case management program, researching industry best practices and operational benchmarks to conduct feasibility studies and make recommendations regarding program design and implementation. Collect and analyze data to identify opportunities for program redesign and performance improvement.
Provide orientation and ongoing education to direct staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Evaluate and optimize patient satisfaction.
Resolve conflicts related to discharge planning with patients/families, external agencies and payers.
Minimum Requirements
Nursing degree and/or Master's degree in a license eligible Behavioral Health discipline such as social work, counseling, or psychology is required.
BSN and/or Master's Degree: MSN, MSW, MA, MS is required.
RN, LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT(or similar) is required.
Less than 3 years related work experience may be considered on a case-by case basis provided the minimal education and license requirements have been met.
3-5 years experience in a Behavioral Health/Case Mangement Emergency/Crisis Services, Inpatient Psychiatry, or similar is required.
Pay Range
$75857.60 - $110567.60
