Overview

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is seeking an experienced and hardworking individual to join our Facilities Maintenance Team. The Facilities Maintenance Area Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all park facilities and infrastructure. This role oversees a team of maintenance technicians responsible for buildings, utilities, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, landscaping support, and general facility upkeep to ensure an exceptional guest and team member experience while maintaining compliance with all applicable Six Flags, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, schedule, and develop a team of facility maintenance technicians
  • Plan and prioritize preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities
  • Maintain park buildings, offices, restaurants, retail locations, restrooms, warehouses, backstage areas, and administrative facilities
  • Oversee maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, roofing, doors, windows, flooring, and structural systems
  • Coordinate repairs to utilities including water, sewer, compressed air, natural gas, and irrigation systems
  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, building codes, environmental regulations, and Six Flags safety standards
  • Respond to facility emergencies including utility outages, water leaks, storm damage, and equipment failures
  • Coordinate contractors and vendors performing facility improvements and specialized repairs
  • Monitor maintenance work orders through the Maximo & Mobaro CMMS, ensuring timely completion and accurate documentation
  • Maintain inventory of tools, materials, spare parts, and consumables
  • Assist Maintenance Director in developing annual operating and capital budgets for facility improvements
  • Participate in facility inspections and corrective action planning
  • Support special events, seasonal operations, and overnight maintenance projects
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment and infrastructure failures
  • Ensure excellent housekeeping and organization throughout maintenance shops and work areas
  • Participate in after-hours and on-call emergency response as required

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Lead daily shift meetings and work assignments
  • Coach and mentor Facility Maintenance personnel
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback
  • Ensure compliance with training requirements and certifications
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Develop technician skills through cross-training and professional development


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree or technical certification in facilities maintenance, electrical, HVAC, construction management, or related field preferred
  • Five or more years of commercial or industrial facilities maintenance experience
  • Two or more years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in theme parks, resorts, entertainment venues, stadiums, hospitals, or large commercial campuses is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of:
    • HVAC systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Plumbing systems
    • Carpentry and general construction
    • Building automation systems (BAS)
    • CMMS software
    • Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry
  • EPA Section 608 Certification
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO)
  • Forklift and aerial lift certification
  • First Aid/CPR/AED

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance best practices
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk several miles throughout the park daily
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces when necessary
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs
