The Team and the Role

The Southern California (SOCAL) Fleet Operational Readiness Division (Code 25) supports Navy fleet readiness by operating, maintaining, and sustaining test ranges, tracking systems, and evaluation facilities used to assess air, surface, submarine, and combat systems. The division provides underwater tracking, shipboard electronics evaluation, radiated noise measurement, magnetic silencing, target operations, range scheduling, technical support, and test analysis while operating key facilities including the San Clemente Island Underwater Range (SCIUR), Fleet Operational Readiness Accuracy Check Site (FORACS), Shipboard Electronics Systems Evaluation Facility (SESEF), and Magnetic Silencing Facility (MSF).

 

Reporting to the Program Manager, the SESEF Journeyman Engineer (Engineering Technician V) provides technical operations support, maintenance, EKMS, and data processing support for SESEF systems, ensuring reliable testing and evaluation of Navy communications, ESM, data link, and radar systems in support of fleet readiness on the San Diego Detachment Support Services contract. This position is located in San Diego, CA.

What You'll Do
  • Operates government-owned test and evaluation equipment to support shipboard systems testing, including ULM-4 ESM, TACAN, HF/VHF/UHF communications, Link 11/16, HAWKLINK, spectrum analyzers, RCS generators, and related systems; schedules tests, coordinates with fleet units, collects and analyzes data, updates government databases, and prepares technical reports.
  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, alignment, repair, replacement, in-service engineering, and testing on supported equipment in accordance with government maintenance schedules.
  • Manages Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) keying material by receiving, transporting, loading, storing, documenting, and destroying classified material in accordance with established security procedures.
  • Coordinates calibration activities with the Technical Design Agent, including equipment installation, removal, and compliance tracking.
  • Prepares classified and unclassified materials for shipment in accordance with security and documentation requirements.
  • Supports ship and helicopter squadron visits by coordinating schedules, providing onsite technical support, performing installations and repairs, and documenting activities through trip reports.
  • Assists with combat systems support activities, including fleet coordination, equipment installation, modifications, transportation logistics, and data link/system testing.
  • Prepares technical metrics and reports, supports briefings and data calls, coordinates meetings and documentation, conducts market research, and recommends process improvements.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • HS Diploma/GED required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in electronics maintenance, test support, or a related defense or technical field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electronic principles, test equipment, and troubleshooting for shipboard electronics systems, including ESM, communications, data links, and radar.
  • Ability to independently operate, maintain, install, repair, and troubleshoot electronic systems on routine to moderately complex assignments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and perform hands-on work in laboratory and shipboard environments, including tower access.
  • Proficiency with data collection and analysis, report preparation, and basic technical documentation and communication.
  • Experience with required software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and functional experience in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Technical training, military experience, or an associate degree from an accredited university in electronics, electrical engineering technology, or a related field is desired.

  • Prior experience supporting shipboard electronics testing and evaluation.

  • Experience handling Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) keying material, supporting calibration activities, performing scheduled maintenance, and adhering to security and safety procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as in performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area or on-board submarines and in weapon facilities.

 

INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $47.80 – $48.13 per hour.
