Responsibilities

Full Job Description
Mission

Responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment that is essential to the Proton Therapy System (PTS), troubleshooting equipment issues, performing routine preventative maintenance, conducting system inspections, and communicating the system's status to leadership and other stakeholders, support hardware and software testing, and be involved in unit testing, integration testing, validation testing, and other site-related activities that allow IBA to deliver on our mission.

Challenges we trust you with

  • Maintain and deploy the Proton Therapy System (PTS) for various customer needs, which will include but not be limited to: Quality Assurance, Development, Software/Hardware Testing, Troubleshooting, and Experimentation.
  • Troubleshoot PTS equipment including electrical, mechanical, and software problems.
  • Perform maintenance of the PTS including but not limited to routine preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and corrective maintenance as necessary.
  • Perform system inspections and clearly communicate the status of the system to leadership as well as to IBA employees.
  • Provide support to PTS Hardware and Software testing.
  • Support daily clinical operations for the customer clinical staff as defined by Site Leadership.
  • Maintain adequate records as defined by the customer and Site Leadership in accordance with company QA and FDA regulations.
  • Support the PTS in all phases, which will include but not be limited to unit testing, integration testing, validation testing and other various site related activities as the Site Leadership defines them.
  • Train and mentor Technicians and new colleagues.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
  • The incumbent will pass the Board written and verbal exams within the initial 12 months in the role.


What we value

You have:
    • B.S. in Engineering, Physics or other applicable field, or an Associate's degree with 7+ years of relevant work experience.
    • 3+ years' experience in electrical/mechanical/software system repair, troubleshooting, maintenance of large integrated systems.
    • Candidate should have experience in several of the following: Software systems, Network administration, Cyclotrons, Electronics, Mechanical Systems, Software Analysis, X-Ray Systems, Positioning Equipment, Cooling Systems, Vacuum Systems, PLC's (Siemens), Regulation Loops, Drivers, Sensors, Electric Motors, High Voltage Equipment, Power Supplies, Proton Therapy Systems, etc.
    • Solid general knowledge of/experience with - Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.
    • Knowledge of local EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) regulations is a plus.
    • Detailed knowledge of LINUX systems, SAP, Siemens Step 7, and Service Max is a plus.
    • Experience in LEAN maintenance and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is a plus.

Travel

  • Travel occasionally, as necessary for training (+/- 2 weeks) and/or meeting events (approximately 10%).


Physical Demands of the role

  • Rotating shift work in 4-week intervals. 4 weeks mornings, 4 weeks afternoons, 2 weeks 10AM-630PM.
  • Good manual dexterity to work with tools.
  • Ability to hear and speak clearly and be able to work on a computer and on video calls.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, go up and down ladders and stairs, and safely work at heights with a safety harness with a 300-pound weight limitation, etc.
  • Work with hazardous materials, high voltage, and pressurized gases.
  • Occupational exposure to radiation, live electrical work, handling hazardous materials, and other occupational hazards pertaining to the maintenance of the Proton Therapy equipment. IBA require staff monitoring to measure your exposure levels. IBA has an Environmental Health and Safety program in place to monitor radiation exposure tracking internal limits to ensure compliance with applicable radiation laws.
  • Special inoculation and immunization requirements are a condition of employment for working in a health care setting. You may be required to obtain appropriate immunization against communicable diseases, which may include hepatitis B, tuberculosis, influenza, measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella, and COVID-19 vaccination, as required by customers. However, IBA will consider accommodations for disabilities and religious-based reasons. Some sites have more or less stringent requirements than others.
  • Ability to access and navigate each department at the customer's facility.
  • Ability to lift or move >50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.

Approximate Salary Range: $73,000 - $98,000
