DescriptionNorthrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a
Principal Systems Safety Engineer to join its team of diverse and qualified individuals. This position will be located in
Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program in the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) division.

What you will get to do:The Sentinel program has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join the team supporting activities including use case development, requirements definition / allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
- Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts
- Work with both technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature architecture content of large programs design
- Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure that they are properly represented in the model
- Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis
- Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes (for model development, tool integration, and team integration)
- The candidate will have experience in generation or review of design artifacts to support System Safety analyses utilized in maturing weapons system design for safety and support flight test and flight worthiness of complex systems
Basic Qualifications: - Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- Experience using MIL-STD-882E or similar processes for hardware and /or software design development
- 1 years' experience with C/C++, Java, object-oriented design, or similar experience
- Experience in software safety process (MIL-STD-882E, AOP 51, 91-710, JSSSEH)
- Possess fundamental knowledge of system safety principles to develop safety documentation such as a System Safety Program Plan (SSPP), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System/Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SHA/SSHA)
- Familiarity with AGILE
Preferred Qualifications:- 2+ years' System Safety Engineering experience conducting comprehensive system safety analyses IAW MIL-STD-882E, including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), and Operating & Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA) to ensure compliance and mitigate operational risks
- Execute developed processes in Engineering and Manufacturing Development Phase
- Software development or coding experience
- 2+ Experience using DO-178 for design development
- Experience developing in an Agile environment
- Experience with requirements tools such as DOORS, Cameo, Agile software tools, JIRA, and/or Confluence
- Experience in Hardware/Software Integration
- Scrum Master/ Product Owner
- Software Safety - Experience with developing, reviewing, updating, and approving system safety artifacts and system safety requirements
- Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
- Experience developing missile flight systems software
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) / Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certificate
- Weapon System experience (Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience)

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

#SentinelsystemsPrimary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
