DescriptionNorthrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an
Human Factors Principal Engineer (T03 level). This position is located in
Roy, Utah and supports the Sentinel program.
What You'll Get To Do:The Sentinel program has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Human Factors Engineer to join our team supporting activities including:
- Design for maintainability, human machine interface development, requirements management, operator workstation design, CONOPS support, task analyses, verification & validation, analyses and collaboration to facilitate equipment selection, design and arrangement; user group collaboration and working groups
- Compliance with specified sections of MIL-STD-1472G
- Collaboration across IPTs
- Coordination with the customer and user community
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:- Author/support the development of requirements that are compliant with Human Factors best practices and specified sections of MIL-STD-1472G
- Human Factors Analyses (including, but not limited to: task analyses, predictive workload analyses, interface prototyping and analysis, and design-for-maintainability (DFM) analysis)
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
- Conduct computer-based (NX) and empirical accessibility assessments
- Author/support the program documentation of the HFE processes and products in a format consistent with US Military Data Item Descriptions (e.g. Human Engineering Program Plan, Human Engineering Design Approach Document - Operator, Human Engineering Design Approach Document - Maintainer, etc.)
- Design and develop workstation geometry and layout controls and displays to accommodate the full anthropometric range of expected users
Basic Qualifications- Educational background in Psychology, Human Factors, User Experience, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, or HCI-related field from an accredited university, and at least 5 years of related experience with a bachelors; OR at least 3 Years of relevant experience with a master's degree; OR 1 Year with a PhD degree
- Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Demonstrated experience applying HFE principles to programs
- Experience in fast-paced work environment and ability to work in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to segment, program and customer community
Preferred Qualification- Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production
- Experience with Human Factors in a defense contracting environment (familiarity with Mil-Std-1472G and ANSI/HFES [redacted])
- Familiarity with Human Factors modeling in NX/Jack, IMPRINT

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

#SentinelsystemsPrimary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
