A Brief OverviewThe Senior Writer in the Marketing and PR department is responsible for bringing the brand, stories, experiences and marketing campaigns of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to life.
As a steward of CHOP's voice, the Senior Writer is expected to possess excellent conceptual and writing skills that they will apply to a variety of media to support an array of CHOP clinical departments, growth initiatives, patient family experiences, and fundraising efforts.
The Senior Writer will serve as the content lead for all their assigned CHOP departments and creative projects and ensure that messaging is cohesive and consistent across all tactics, adheres to CHOP brand guidelines, and meets the business needs of the department and institution.
The Senior Writer will partner with designer(s) from ideation to execution to launch and work side-by-side throughout with account management, consumer insights, digital strategy, project management, and PR team members to deliver a creative product and experience that meets the strategic needs of each project.
What you will do- Write for any medium: print, digital, social, web, video, experience, and premiums
- Have excellent conceptual and writing skills, as demonstrated by portfolio
- Be able to create compelling, thought-provoking, strategically-sound marketing, PR and fundraising messages and web content
- Be able to consistently crack a brief multiple ways, bringing new ideas appropriate to our clinical and business partners' needs and CHOP tone
- Develop a range of creative executions for each project and effectively collaborate with design partner to ensure design and copy work together to support the concepts
- Provide editorial oversight for newsletters and fundraising print publications
- Understand the ways marketing helps our clinical and business partners achieve their goals
- Understand the needs, motivations, and aspirations relevant to our audiences and tailor content to them within the CHOP brand guidelines
- Proactively propose copy solutions to problems clinical or business partners have voiced
- Attend project kick-off meetings; follow creative and/or project briefs
- Take direction from Creative Supervisor and/or Creative Director
- Listen to feedback from team and CHOP partners and deliver revised solutions
- Be able to self-manage creative projects from concept through completion with minimal supervision
- Be able to handle a large volume of work and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Adhere to deadlines; communicate and problem solve if deadlines can't be met
- Delegate work to and manage writers and freelancers to complete work to CHOP standards
- Provide feedback on allocated hours. Work with PM and Creative Supervisor to revise scope
- Have excellent presentation skills; comfortable speaking in front of internal and external stakeholders and presents content in a compelling and engaging manner
- Be able to interact confidently and sensitively with CHOP partners, as well as with patients and patient families
- Have a passion for creative process
- Detail-oriented, attentive, resourceful, and accurate
- Shows to be a self-starter who has an entrepreneurial spirit
- Maintains high standards of quality and influences the copy direction and creative growth of the department
- Be responsible for maintaining version and quality control of owned assets through lifecycle of project
- Add to and maintain the copy style guide associated with assigned departments
Education Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree Journalism, Creative Writing, or related discipline Required
Experience Qualifications- At least five (5) years Marketing and/or publication writing experience Required
- Digital or online portfolio of work and case studies across full range of print, digital, and video media to be utilized in interview process Required
- Branding experience
- Experience working with print, video and web production teams
- Experience concepting multi-channel marketing campaigns
- Digital media, web, social, print and video marketing experience

SALARY RANGE:$83,700.00 - $106,700.00 Annually
Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
