Senior Workface Planner - Piping

Play an integral role in delivering sustainable infrastructure and industrial construction projects that support the world's evolving energy, chemicals, and resources needs. As a Senior Workface Planner - Piping, you will drive construction readiness, execution efficiency, and workforce productivity by developing and implementing detailed workface planning strategies for piping construction activities.

Working at the intersection of engineering, procurement, project controls, and construction, you will ensure piping work packages are complete, executable, and aligned with project schedules and field priorities. Your efforts will directly influence project performance, labor productivity, cost effectiveness, safety outcomes, and successful project delivery.

Purpose of the role

This role is responsible for coordinating engineering deliverables, material availability, construction schedules, and field requirements to develop detailed Installation Work Packages (IWPs) and construction-ready plans. Through proactive planning and stakeholder engagement, you will help maximize labor productivity, reduce execution risk, and support successful project outcomes.

You will be responsible for
  • Developing and implementing piping workface planning strategies that support project execution goals and construction productivity targets.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining Installation Work Packages (IWPs) and related construction planning documentation.
  • Coordinating engineering, procurement, materials management, construction, and project controls teams to ensure work package readiness.
  • Verifying that drawings, materials, permits, tools, equipment, and supporting documentation are available before work is released to the field.
  • Supporting construction execution by ensuring piping work packages align with project schedules, milestones, and workforce requirements.
  • Identifying constraints that could impact field execution and collaborating with project teams to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitoring project progress and adjusting work plans to address changing priorities and field conditions.
  • Participating in construction planning meetings, readiness reviews, constructability reviews, and schedule coordination sessions.
  • Supporting productivity improvement initiatives through effective work packaging, sequencing, and resource planning.
  • Providing technical guidance and planning support to field supervisors, construction management, and project teams.
  • Assisting with forecasting labor requirements, material needs, and construction sequencing activities.
  • Promoting adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements throughout construction planning and execution activities.
  • Preparing reports, presentations, performance metrics, and planning updates for project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Collaborating closely with client representatives and internal teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and execution strategies.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing workface planning processes, tools, and execution effectiveness.

What you'll bring to the role

You are a highly organized construction professional with strong piping construction knowledge and a passion for planning, coordination, and operational excellence. You understand how effective workface planning improves productivity, reduces risk, and enables successful project delivery.

Key qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Typically 7+ years of experience in industrial construction, piping construction, field engineering, project controls, workface planning, or project execution.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing Installation Work Packages (IWPs) and construction work packages.
  • Strong knowledge of piping systems, isometrics, construction drawings, specifications, materials management, and installation practices.
  • Experience supporting industrial, energy, chemicals, LNG, refinery, petrochemical, mining, infrastructure, power generation, or major capital projects.
  • Solid understanding of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), Construction Work Packages (CWPs), and industry workface planning methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze complex project information and translate it into executable field work plans.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders including engineering, procurement, project controls, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities with the ability to influence project outcomes.
  • Experience using construction planning systems, document management platforms, scheduling tools, and project management software.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
