Full Job Description
The Senior HCM Analyst collaborates with customers, peers, technical, and operations staff to ensure successful configuration, data conversion, deployment, and support of Workday HCM including the following modules: Security, Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Absence, Core HCM, Recruiting, Learning, and Time Tracking in an environment that meets or exceeds established SLAs. Support cross-functional teams in Prism Analytics.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Responsible for the support, maintenance and configuration of all Workday HCM modules
  • Supporting data analysis by cross functional teams in Prism Analytics

Critical and Essential Tasks

System Optimization & Strategy
  • Serve as a Workday Subject Matter Expert (SME), advising teams on how to leverage delivered functionality and "Power of One" architecture to replace manual processes.
  • Partner with functional leads, the security team, and internal audit to manage Workday Security Groups and ensure data integrity across all tenants.
  • Analyze the interdependencies between Workday Human Capital Management and Workday Payroll, ensuring seamless data flow through the unified data model.
  • Design and configure Workday Business Processes (BPs) to streamline workflows and ensure accurate data capture throughout the worker lifecycle.


Module-Specific Configuration & Oversight
  • Benefits & Compensation: Configure benefit plans, eligibility rules, and compensation grades; manage the Annual Compensation Review process and Open Enrollment events.
  • Absence & Time Tracking: Maintain leave of absence plans and time entry templates, ensuring complex accrual calculations and validations align with labor laws and company policy.
  • Recruiting & Learning: Optimize the candidate experience through business process configuration and manage the learning catalog, including enrollment rules and campaign automation.
  • Prism Analytics: Utilize Prism to ingest external data sources, blending them with Workday data to create high-impact, actionable insights for executive leadership.


Reporting & Analytics
  • Translate complex business needs into technical requirements for Workday Report Writer, selecting the appropriate report type (Advanced, Matrix, Composite) to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Develop and maintain custom reports and Calculated Fields, ensuring high performance and data accuracy for end users.


Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Develop comprehensive test plans for Workday updates, focusing on regression testing and end-to-end process validation.
  • Execute system and integration tests, particularly for Workday Core HCM and downstream third-party integrations (EIBs, Core Connectors).
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions, providing guidance to business testers and managing the defect resolution lifecycle within the tenant.


Support & Release Management
  • Provide high-level functional and technical support to "Super Users," troubleshooting complex issues and managing escalations to Workday Support via the Named Support Contact (NSC) protocol.
  • Manage the communication and triage of incoming tickets, balancing urgent production fixes with long-term enhancements.
  • Participate in the evaluation and adoption of new features during Workday Bi-Annual Releases, determining the impact of mandatory "What's New" items and opting into relevant new functionality.

Experience and Education
  • 6-7 years of functional/technical experience with several of the following Workday HCM modules required: Security, Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Absence, Core HCM, Recruiting, Time Tracking and Prism Analytics
  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, similar major, or equivalent business experience


Job Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Deep expertise in Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) and Payroll business processes, with a strong preference for experience within the retail industry and its unique regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience in the full Workday implementation lifecycle, including requirements gathering, tenant configuration, integration testing, and post-production support.
  • Proactive ability to identify system gaps or potential processing bottlenecks and design scalable, automated solutions within the Workday ecosystem.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document complex technical configurations and business process flows clearly.
  • High degree of organizational skill and attention to detail, particularly when managing complex Calculated Fields, EIB data loads, and organizational structures.
  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft 365 Suite, specifically utilizing Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs) for high-volume data auditing and PowerPoint for stakeholder presentations.
