Step into a senior technical leadership role delivering complex mine water and surface water projects across Western Canada. As part of our Mine Water & Environment - West team, you will play a critical role in shaping project outcomes, advising clients, mentoring engineers, and contributing to the continued growth of WSP's mining water practice.

This opportunity is suited to highly experienced water resources professionals, with the final scope and title aligned to your experience, technical authority, leadership influence, and market impact.

Your Impact
  • Lead complex mine water and surface water projects from conceptual planning through detailed design and construction support
  • Develop and review site-wide mine water management strategies, including water balances and climate resilience considerations
  • Deliver hydrologic and hydraulic assessments supporting mine operations, infrastructure, and closure planning
  • Design and oversee surface water conveyance and control infrastructure such as channels, culverts, diversions, spillways, and ponds
  • Integrate mine infrastructure, tailings, and water management systems into cohesive, defensible solutions
  • Provide senior technical oversight and serve as a Qualified Professional (QP) where applicable
  • Build trusted client relationships and contribute to proposals, pursuits, and strategic growth initiatives
  • Mentor engineers and strengthen technical standards, best practices, and safety culture across the team
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in at least one Canadian province (multi-province registration is an asset)
  • Typically 12+ years of consulting experience in water resources engineering, with strong mining exposure
  • Demonstrated leadership on complex, multidisciplinary mine water and surface water projects
  • Advanced expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, mine water management, and surface water infrastructure design
  • Experience engaging directly with mining clients and regulators as a senior technical advisor
  • Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, MIKE, SWMM or similar)
  • Strong technical judgement, mentoring capability, and collaborative leadership mindset

MB & ON: $112,100 - $154,400
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $111,000 - $147,400

Principal Professional

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $147,500 - $195,400
MB & ON: $134,600 - $184,600
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $133,200 - $176,900

Senior Principal Professional

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $177,000 - $234,400
MB & ON: $161,500 - $222,300
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $159,900 - $212,300
