Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Senior Wastewater Project Engineer/Manager with 10-20 years of experience in planning, design, permitting and construction of wastewater projects. The position will involve managing and leading teams to complete high quality project deliverables. The position will lead to an increasing level of client development and management responsibilities, commensurate with experience, and supported by our regional offices and firm-wide technical resources.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage, lead, support, and/or carry out planning and design of wastewater projects.
- Develop technical treatment strategies, select treatment processes, and develop process design criteria.
- Perform detailed technical engineering analysis.
- Prepare construction documents and support needs for construction management/commissioning.
- Prepare technical reports.
- Coordinate with internal technical specialists in all practice areas and discipline design professionals for project delivery.
- Supervise, mentor, teach, and train staff.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on both regional and national levels.
- Lead and/or participate in business development activities that include client development, project pursuits, and project interviews
- Develop scope, schedule, and budget for successful pursuits.
- Help grow a local and regional team.
Required Qualifications: - 10-20 years of experience in Wastewater Engineering
- B.S. degree in Civil, Environmental, or Biological Engineering
- Detailed understanding of local, state, and federal regulations.
- Experience managing interdisciplinary teams to effectively meet the client's needs
- Experience in successfully delivering projects with collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience in planning and design of wastewater facilities
- Detailed understanding related to sizing wastewater treatment processes
- Project management experience
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of interacting effectively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
- Self-starter with attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in all MS Office based computer software
- PE license is required (ability to obtain reciprocity within six months of employment)
Preferred Qualifications: - Advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) in Civil, Environmental, or Biological Engineering or related field.
- Experience managing projects with fees of $2M or more
- Experience negotiating multiple contracts with clients
- Experience recruiting staff
- Experience in client management/development
- Experience in managing project pursuits
