Full Job Description
Senior Vibration Test Engineer with aerospace industry experience to establish, lead, and grow our vibration testing capability, built around our LDS V8800 (or equal/similar) electrodynamic shaker system. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: the successful candidate will personally run complex tests on aerospace hardware, define lab standards and procedures from the ground up, mentor future team members, and serve as the go-to technical authority on shaker testing, fixture design, and vibration test methodology within an aerospace qualification context. This person will be expected to build out processes, staffing plans, and best practices as the team scales.

Make a difference as a Senior Vibration Test Engineer

Key responsibilities include setting up, calibrating, and running vibration tests (sine sweep, random, sine-on-random, shock, resonance search/dwell) using LDS/Bruel & Kjaer or comparable controls; translating MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-1540, and NASA-STD-7001 requirements into practical test plans; directing fixture design/fabrication with attention to mass loading and mounting resonance; troubleshooting amplifier/armature/cooling/control-loop issues; analyzing PSD/transmissibility results and producing audit-ready reports; leading failure investigations with design/quality; establishing procedures, safety, calibration, and AS9100-aligned documentation; and training/mentoring future operators/engineers.

  • Serve as the technical lead and subject-matter expert for all aerospace vibration testing, with direct ownership of the LDS V8800 (or equal/similar) shaker system and lab operations.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate the shaker system (armature, head expander, slip table, amplifier) to test aerospace components, assemblies, and structures.
  • Program and execute sine sweep, random vibration, sine-on-random, shock, and resonance search/dwell test profiles using LDS/Bruel & Kjaer or comparable control software.
  • Interpret aerospace/defense specifications (MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-1540, NASA-STD-7001) and customer qualification requirements, and translate them into executable test plans.
  • Design or direct fabrication of test fixtures, ensuring correct mass loading, mounting resonance, and force/frequency compatibility.
  • Diagnose and resolve amplifier, armature, cooling, and control-loop faults; serve as final escalation point for test anomalies.
  • Analyze test data (PSD plots, transmissibility, resonance frequencies) and author audit-ready reports for engineering, quality, and customer/regulatory submittal.
  • Lead root-cause investigations for test article failures, partnering with design and quality engineering.
  • Establish test lab procedures, safety protocols, calibration schedules, and documentation from the ground up, in compliance with AS9100.
  • Compile test reports as necessary per industry and customer requirements.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor future test operators/engineers as the team grows.
What we are looking for in a Senior Vibration Test Engineer
  • Experience standing up a test lab or capability from an early stage.
  • This position operates in a manufacturing assembly environment.
  • Requires standing/sitting for extended periods
  • Exposure to chemicals (solvents, coatings); proper PPE and ventilation provided.
  • Requires moving materials and tools weighing up to 100lbs.
