Senior UX Designer: Product & Systems Overview EDS is a tech-enabled services company. The software we build directly determines how law enforcement agencies run their off-duty programs, how officers get paid, and how customers hire security for their events. Design here is not cosmetic. It is operational. We are looking for a senior UX designer who can own the full spectrum: research, interaction design, visual design, and systems. You will build the design foundation that makes this product team move faster.
What You'll Design - The officer experience across our web portals and mobile apps, covering scheduling, job pickup, payment, and availability
- The customer and internal portal experience, including job posting, officer coordination, and billing
- Complex workflows: multi-party approval chains, scheduling logic, and service-backed integrations
- The EDS design system, including components, patterns, and documentation
What You'll Build in Year One - A full audit of the current experience across all product surfaces with prioritized findings
- A design system from the ground up: token-based, component-documented, and in the hands of PMs and engineers
- End-to-end flows for the consolidated portal experience and a unified UX
- UX for an instant pay flow, a high-stakes, high-visibility feature that directly affects Officer trust
What We're Looking For - 5+ years of UX design experience, with a portfolio that spans apps, web portals, and internal/operational tools
- Strong interaction design and visual design fundamentals; you can go from concept to high-fidelity without a hand-off chain
- Experience running user research: knows when to run it, how to design studies, and how to translate findings into product decisions
- Background designing complex workflows: multi-step processes, service integrations, and data-dense interfaces
- Enough technical fluency to design realistically within back-end and API constraints
- Experience building or significantly contributing to a design system
- Strong communicator; you will be translating between users, PMs, and engineers constantly
- Candidates residing in North Carolina or Texas are preferred
What Makes You Stand Out - Experience as a solo or lead designer at a product company; you know what it means to own the whole problem
- Has used gen AI as a design accelerant: rapid prototyping, concept iteration, and research synthesis
- Background in B2B operational tools, workforce management, field services, or public safety
- Familiarity with law enforcement culture or agency operations
- Experience designing payment or financial flows
