Salary Range: $43.26 - $48.08/ hr.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:Underwrite Conventional and Government (FHA, VA, USDA) residential mortgage loans for sale in the secondary market, as well as Non-QM, GRB Portfolio Loans, Construction loans, and home equity lines and loans.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Underwrite Conventional, Non-QM, and Government (including FHA, VA, and USDA) mortgage loans, pursuant to secondary market and investor guidelines.
- Underwrite residential portfolio loans, construction draw loans, consumer loans, and home equity lines and loans pursuant to GRB credit guidelines.
- Develop and maintain expert knowledge base related to underwriting requirements of FNMA, FHLMC and correspondent lending partners (investors).
- Develop and maintain thorough knowledge related to the different grant programs in which GRB participates.
- Possess strong working knowledge of the automatic underwriting systems (DU, LP, GUS).
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with Sales and other internal mortgage staff, attorneys, realtors, title companies, appraisal firms and other business-related customers.
- Assist loan officers and processors with questions related to underwriting policies and loan structuring.
- Work with post-closing department on any suspense related items clearing them in a timely manner.
- Assist other underwriters as backup when required.
- Work as a mentor with other junior staff members
- Develop and maintain knowledge of, and work within, all compliance requirements for residential mortgage lending to include Bank Policies, Laws and Regulations.
- Provide review of files in designated timeframes and issue Commitments as required. Active participation in demonstrating the behaviors outlined in the GRB Experience.
- Related Bank assignments or duties as directed by the Residential Underwriting Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience required, preferably in a business-related discipline plus a minimum of 5 years' experience underwriting secondary market residential mortgage loans and a minimum of 3 years' government loan underwriting experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Active CHUMS ID# required, SAR ID # and SONYMA experience preferred.
- Expert knowledge in a minimum of two of the following: Non-QM, FHA, VA and USDA regulations and underwriting guidelines, must be fluent in all three within 12 months in position.
- Knowledge and experience with FHA Connection and VA Portal
- Knowledge of Fannie Mae DU, Freddie Mac LP, GUS, FHA Total Scorecard.
