Senior U.S. Benefits Analyst
Position Summary:
The Senior (Expert-Level) U.S. Benefits Analyst is responsible for the strategic administration, optimization, and compliance of employee benefit programs across the United States. This role serves as a subject matter expert, partnering with HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors to ensure benefits programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with organizational objectives. The role also plays a critical part in vendor management, open enrollment (OE), and ongoing process improvements.
Duties & Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities:Benefits Administration & Strategy- Lead the administration of U.S. health & welfare, leave of absence, and wellness programs
- Evaluate and recommend enhancements to benefit programs to ensure market competitiveness and alignment with company strategy
- Analyze utilization trends, cost drivers, and employee feedback to inform plan design decisions
Vendor Management- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefit vendors (e.g., medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, 401(k), leave administrators, brokers)
- Manage vendor performance, service delivery, SLAs, and ongoing relationship governance
- Lead RFP processes, vendor selection, and contract negotiations as needed
- Ensure vendors meet compliance requirements and deliver accurate, timely services
Open Enrollment (OE) Leadership- Lead end-to-end Open Enrollment planning and execution, including timeline development, system configuration, employee communications, and vendor coordination
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless employee experience
- Analyze OE outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement
Compliance & Governance- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA)
- Partner with Legal and vendors on plan documents, filings (e.g., Form 5500), and audits
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of benefits regulations and proactively assess impacts to programs
Data, Reporting & Analytics- Develop and deliver reporting and insights on benefits utilization, enrollment trends, and cost management
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes related to benefits spend
- Conduct benchmarking analysis to ensure programs remain competitive
Employee Support & Communication- Provide expert-level guidance on complex employee benefits inquiries and escalations
- Develop and deliver clear, effective employee communications and education materials
- Partner with HR teams to enhance employee understanding and engagement with benefits
Process Improvement & Systems- Continuously evaluate and improve benefits processes, systems, and workflows
- Partner with HRIS and payroll teams to ensure accurate data integration and system functionality
- Support implementation of new tools, programs, or vendors
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements: Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience in U.S. benefits administration, with deep subject matter expertise
- Strong knowledge of U.S. benefits regulations and compliance requirements
- Proven experience managing vendors and leading Open Enrollment processes
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, ADP) and benefits administration platforms
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- CEBS, CBP, or similar professional certification
- Experience in multi-state or publicly traded company environments
- Experience supporting executive or complex benefits programs
