We are looking for a Transportation Planner / Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering team.

The Transportation group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and local municipal transportation agencies on large-scale projects across the whole Transportation spectrum of highways, roads and bridges, transit infrastructure, transportation planning, and roundabouts. Our team provides integrated transportation services throughout the project lifecycle from initial policy, transportation economics, and business case advice, through concept, Environmental Assessment, detailed design, and construction administration.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
  • Leading transportation planning and traffic engineering projects and provide delivery oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Managing project scope, budget, schedule, and quality objectives for assigned projects.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Mentoring and coaching junior staff and provide technical review of project deliverables.
  • Delivering client meetings, presentations, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Leading proposal development, fee preparation and business development activities.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat and new business.
  • Acting as a technical resource and trusted advisor on transportation planning and traffic engineering matters.
  • Preparing inventories of road facilities and transit services
  • Undertaking research and analysis of land use, demographic, and travel data
  • Resolving requirements and broader transportation impact for proposed developments
  • Assisting with the preparation and analysis of travel forecasts
  • Developing and assess alternative road improvements
  • Developing conceptual road designs, prepare technical memos, reports, and graphics
  • Incorporating transit, pedestrian, transportation demand management strategies, and active transportation into studies
  • Reviewing and developing on-site circulation plans
  • Preparing parking justification and loading studies
  • Performing intersection operations analysis
  • Performing microsimulation analysis

What you will bring to the Team:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering with 8-10 years of experience in transportation
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-training in Ontario
  • Solid understanding of relevant transportation planning and traffic engineering policies and design standards in Ontario
  • Experience with safety audits and collision analysis
  • Experience with AutoCAD or GIS is an asset
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Synchro, Sidra, Vissim, and/or other traffic software
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Excellent report and proposal writing skills
  • Positive attitude, good communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Performs well independently as well as in a team environment
  • Valid Driver's license

The salary range for this position is $94, 760-138,760. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
