HDR is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner to join our Washington area team. A successful candidate will have a deep passion in planning world class transportation choices for our communities and strong ability to communicate strategically to support analysis and decision making. This position may be based out of our Bellevue or Seattle offices, possibly including client co-located officing. In this role we'll count on you to: • Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline transportation planning and environmental compliance projects Solve complex policy and design relationships involving transportation planning, urban design, and communication aspects of projects • Directly interface with client staff and leadership • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings Direct work of others in completion of required studies, documents and reports • Demonstrate extensive public participation, agency coordination, planning and programming experience • Participate in design development and contract document work sessions in conjunction with appropriate technical professionals and other disciplines Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project development to complete documents on schedule • Perform other duties as needed Preferred Qualifications • Strong background in transit systems including light rail, bus rapid transit, complete street and non-motorized facility planning • Previous experience with state transportation and regional transportation agencies such as WSDOT and Sound Transit. • Ability to deliver and oversee project definition, planning, and conceptual stages of design • Possess excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills • Willingness to co-locate with client staff and other consultant team members at project offices • Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel simultaneously • Solid business development skills; demonstrated ability to relate well to clients; and demonstrated presentation skills #LI-CV1 Qualifications Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering or a related field • A minimum of 10 years' experience with transportation planning • Possess excellent analytical and communication skills • Understanding of transit planning principles • Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel • Solid business development skills; demonstrated ability to relate well to clients; and demonstrated presentation skills • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
