We are looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Allentown team. In this role, you will lead a variety of municipal and private-sector transportation projects, including traffic impact studies, safety and operational analyses, traffic signal design and timing, signing, pavement markings, traffic control plans, and municipal roadway improvements.

What You Will Do As a Senior Traffic Engineer on our team, you will lead practical, data-informed transportation solutions while guiding projects, supporting clients, and contributing to the continued growth of our traffic engineering team.
- Lead traffic impact studies, safety analyses, capacity analyses, and traffic flow evaluations for municipal and private-sector projects.
- Prepare and review technical reports, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation for highway and traffic engineering projects.
- Lead the evaluation and design of traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, parking restrictions, sight distance, speed limits, and traffic control measures.
- Perform and review traffic operations analyses using Synchro, HCS, Vissim, or similar software, including signal warrant studies, timing plans, and corridor coordination.
- Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, deliverables, and client communication for multiple assignments.
- Conduct and oversee field investigations and site visits to collect data, confirm existing conditions, and support design decisions.
- Prepare proposals, construction cost estimates, project schedules, and supporting materials for municipal and private-sector clients.
- Represent KCE at client, municipal, agency, and public meetings and provide expert input or testimony when needed.
- Coordinate with civil engineers, surveyors, inspectors, planners, and other members of the project team to deliver practical, compliant solutions.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers and designers while supporting consistent quality and professional growth.
- Maintain technical quality and regulatory compliance throughout project development, review, approval, bidding, and construction.
What You Bring We are looking for someone who combines substantial traffic engineering experience with strong project leadership, sound technical judgment, clear communication, and a collaborative approach.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
- Eight or more years of relevant traffic or transportation engineering experience.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania required.
- Proven experience managing traffic engineering projects, including scopes, budgets, schedules, deliverables, and client communication.
- Proficiency with traffic analysis software such as Synchro, HCS, Vissim, or similar programs.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal transportation standards and regulations.
- Ability to lead multiple projects, meet deadlines, maintain accurate documentation, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and client-relations skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both field and office settings and travel locally as project needs require.
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
- Five or more years of experience supporting municipal traffic engineering projects.
