Position Summary:

The S enior T rade Compliance A nalyst leverages expertise in international trade, customs compliance, and global supply chain operations to ensure Swagelok's adherence to import and export regulations. This role requires deep knowledge of customs laws , free trade agreements, tariff clarifications and export controls to assess risk, drive compliance and implement policy and process improvements. The analyst will also serve as key collaborator with U.S. C ustoms authorities , international business stakeholders and global distribut ion partners .

T his role will require p roficiency in creating and analyzing large datasets and creating insightful visualizations using tools like Excel or Power BI to inform decision-making in this space .

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Research, interpret, and apply U.S. and international trade regulations to ensure compliance with import and export requirements.


  • Manage import compliance programs, including tariff classifications, customs valuation, country of origin determinations, product marking requirements, and free trade agreement qualifications. Develop, implement, and maintain trade compliance policies, procedures, controls, and recordkeeping practices to support regulatory compliance and audit readiness.


  • Lead trade compliance audits and assessments, evaluate compliance risks, and provide recommendations, corrective actions, and status updates to management.


  • Serve as a subject matter expert on customs regulations, partnering with legal, finance, engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and commercial teams to support business decisions and regulatory compliance.


  • Analyze trade, customs, logistics, and ERP data to identify trends, assess risk, support strategic initiatives, and provide actionable business recommendations.


  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to global trade compliance, supply chain optimization, landed cost analysis, acquisitions, new product introductions, distributor expansion, and other strategic business projects.


  • Develop and deliver trade compliance training and guidance to employees, distributors, and global business partners to promote awareness and compliance with global trade regulations.


  • Identifi y and address import/export compliance issues as they arise in Swagelok operations. Works and escalates as necessary with all Swagelok stakeholders to resolve import/export compliance issues to safeguard company compliance.


  • Manages Swagelok's export licenses with BIS, including but not limited to: application processing, deemed export management, communication with distributor personnel, product classification requests, order reviews, BIS license inquiries and BIS audits. Works with managed legal counsel, in-house counsel as needed to confirm interpretations, legal requirements, and proposed business decisions.


  • Works with Finance to ensure proper payment to Customs authorities, import tax reporting and audit findings are properly reported and acted upon .


  • Able to independently gather, extract and interpret trade related data from various sources and complete complex ad hoc analyses. Initiates further analysis and recommendations to the business based on findings.


  • Actively m onitors the changing regulatory environment of international trade and customs regulations of the U.S. and other countries Swagelok conducts business in evaluating business impacts and recommending solution s .


  • Support logistics and supply chain operations by resolving customs clearance and transportation issues and collaborating with brokers, carriers, distributors, and government agencies.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Required: Ba chelor 's degree (preferably in business, supply chain or logistics ) and 7 + years of rel evant work experience . Relevant work experience includes supply chain, logistics , analytics, auditing and compliance.

Demonstrates the initiative to build knowledge, organizational and business awareness Ability to multi-task, work in teams and use multiple systems and processes to handle changing requirements.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of theories, practices, and procedures related to logistics /supply chain management and international trade .


  • Solid understanding of costs and services associated with international logistics and compliance .


  • Advanced proficiency in analytical tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Power BI


  • Ability to translate data and insights into clear and compelling narratives that inform decision-making. Learning agility; adjusts plans based on new information.


  • Good problem solving, written, verbal, and presentation skills.


  • Good communication skills for interaction with external legal counsel, suppliers, third party software providers, and various government agencies on Customs issues.


  • Solid understanding of U.S. customs and import regulations, product classification and international trade compliance principles.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
  • Working conditions associated with normal office environment.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, copier, printer, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both small and large groups and settings.
  • Ability to traverse between multiple locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania as needed.
  • Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
