ABOUT THE TEAM
Anduril Intelligence Systems (AIS) is focused on positioning Anduril as a lead provider of specialized engineering and products for Intelligence Community (IC) customers. We work within the IC to understand their requirements, shape their concepts of operation, and deliver exquisite capability across their problem set. We aim to develop and deploy critically needed capabilities that address our customers' most pressing national security requirements.

ABOUT THE JOB
Anduril is seeking a technical writer to partner with our intelligence systems engineering team to generate and maintain engineering and developer-focused technical documentation. The team strongly believes that documentation is a key part of the product development process. In this role you will work closely with developers and users to understand how products are developed as well as how they are used, identify gaps in understanding, and use documentation to close the gap. You will be play a foundational role in setting the tone and quality bar on written artifacts.

With our focus on defense and national security, product docs play a critical role in ensuring that front-line decision makers have the best tools and information possible about Anduril systems. As a Technical Writer, your mission is to make this process as easy and seamless as possible, with exceptionally well-written and presented artifacts, while building world-class infrastructure and tooling for creating and maintaining our documentation content at scale.
Written content artifacts under this charter may include things like: compliance, process documentation, user guides, release notes, troubleshooting guides, and API documentation. You will partner with engineering, product management, and the business across all phases of product development - from ground truth need-finding, to execution, to field testing and validation - to ensure that the user has the right documentation available

This is an opportunity to join a small and start-up like team to help shape Anduril's product documentation experience from the ground up.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Generate, review, and edit documentation, that is user-focused and of the highest quality.
  • Documentation covers full development lifecycle - from planning and design to technical configuration, deployment, and integration
  • Work with engineering to ship user-friendly documentation that not only informs and instructs but also contributes to a robust user experience.
  • Contribute to Anduril's technical writing toolkit, working on everything from style guides to the documentation lifecycle and review process.
  • Build partnerships across the business to understand our users and our products.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience: 8+ years of demonstrated excellence generating technical documentation for various levels of technical audiences for a variety of product types.
  • Technical Aptitude: Reading and interpreting software and hardware user documentation for complex technical products as well as a highly structured certification process.
  • Writing Ability: A proven clear and persuasive writing and in-person communication skills for a variety of audiences from extremely technical to lay person
  • Mission-First Mindset: You put the needs of the customer and the mission first. You are motivated by the opportunity to radically evolve national and allied defense capabilities.
  • Adaptability: You thrive in unstructured environments. You are a self-starter who can work independently, solve vague technical problems, and drive tasks to completion without constant supervision.
  • Collaboration & Low-Ego: Collaborate closely with engineering staff, subject matter experts (SMEs) and program management to translate complex technical concepts into clear user-friendly documentation and ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Passion and Curiosity: A passion for excellent documentation and user experience combined with a curiosity for new technology.
  • Development Skills: Basic development proficiency - we value the ability to apply software development best practices to documentation systems.
  • Personal Responsibility: The ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to streamline and or augment existing processes and products using artificial intelligence.
  • Clearance: Currently possesses and able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience using, evaluating, and implementing modern software and automation tools to help manage high volume technical writing requirements.
  • Toolset includes Docs-as-Code, Sphinx, VS Code, basic command line skills, Git (or other source control systems), Mastery of Adobe Acrobat and MS Office Suite.


US Salary Range

$146,000-$194,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
