Full Job Description
Providing insight and collaboration regarding underwriting strategies, wording & product development, expert guidance and technical training to the New Business & Retention Team. The role includes collaboration with Chief Underwriting Officer, VP of Underwriting, AVP of Underwriting Development, AVP of Technical Development and other key stakeholders to optimize profitability and support business growth objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following:
  • Act as a leader in the organization, mentoring UW teammates, including sign off where applicable.
  • Reviewing and responding to internal Underwriting referrals on both new and renewal business
  • Identify significant internal and external trends with a view to provide recommendations that are aligned with strategic and operational plans of the organization
  • Provide high level commentary & market intelligence to the executive team and specifically the VP of Underwriting
  • Coordinate with the Chief Underwriting Officer & VP of Underwriting on product development opportunities including the building out of guidelines and templates where applicable
  • Develop and implement technical underwriting guidelines & best practice procedures to ensure consistent and profitable underwriting decisions
  • Assistance & handling of Claims situations/files including suggestion of responses with reliance on wordings, underwriting intentions and technical expertise
  • Maintain / Establish & strengthen relationships with retail producing brokers by encouraging additional submission inflow. Attendance from time to time at conventions and functions is also an element of the role albeit less so than other elements above.
  • Develop and deliver technical training & development programs for new business & retention teams as well as to our broker partners
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence with the underwriting team through training seminars and one on one support
  • Represent SRIM at meetings and events as requested including with our market partners. Provide insightful input that aligns with the strategic plans of the organization
  • Assisting with projects as provided and outlined by the CUO/VP of Underwriting as needed
  • Other Duties as assigned

  • An eye for detail to handle new audits and reviews with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong independent work ethic with an ability to work harmoniously in a team environment


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Level 1 - General Insurance license (or the ability to obtain within a reasonable time frame)
  • CAIB, CIP, CRM, FCIP or working towards finalizing a designation is preferred
  • 10+ Years Commercial Insurance Experience with willingness to further develop Underwriting Analysis & Products skillset


Pay Range
90000 - 130000 Annual

Actual salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and work location. Package may include base pay, commissions, and/or bonuses.
