Full Job Description
SUMMARY

Firefly is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior, Technical Accounting and Reporting to join our dynamic accounting team. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage a diverse accounting skill set, encompassing full-cycle GL management, technical accounting, and financial reporting. This role will report to the Director of Accounting.

Responsibilities:

General Ledger Management:
  • Assist with overseeing and managing the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Establish, maintain and improve accounting policies and procedures.

Technical Accounting:
  • Research and apply relevant accounting standards to revenue recognition, lease accounting, stock-based compensation, and complex transactions.
  • Document and implement new accounting pronouncements.

Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of financial reporting to management and stakeholders.
  • Provide insightful variance analyses and financial commentary.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Support the external audit process.

Internal Controls:
  • Assist with developing, maintaining, and improving internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Support the company's preparation for internal controls audit readiness.

Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with FP&A and non-finance business units to establish and improve processes, and ensure accurate and timely financial information.

Other Duties:
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Support special projects as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum three years of progressive accounting experience, with public accounting and/or public company experience.
  • Proven track record of working with business-facing (i.e., non-finance) personnel to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Familiarity with public company reporting, documentation and audit requirements.
  • Experience performing technical accounting research and applying such concepts to complex transactions and fact patterns.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, and internal control over financial reporting.
  • Strong time management, as well as personnel mentoring and development skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Excel skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Public accounting (particularly Big 4 accounting firm) experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing industry accounting.
  • Masters degree in accounting or related business field.

The company was founded in 2013 with the goal of developing low-cost launch vehicles for the small satellite industry. Firefly's Alpha rocket was designed to carry payloads of up to 1,000 kg to low Earth orbit. The company was acquired by EOS Launcher in 2017 and is now known as Firefly Aerospace.
