Full Job Description
A Senior Technical Product Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and management of technical products within Optum Health and Financial Technology Division of Optum. The role will play a critical role in aligning the product vision with the overall business strategy.

You will enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive product vision and strategy roadmap for utilization management for Oncology
  • Engage appropriate enterprise-wide stakeholders to enable awareness and alignment
  • Responsible for management of the full product lifecycle with a technical focus, including the strategy, design, development, management and end-of-life of new, existing or acquired products
  • Leverages market insights and emerging technology developments and trends to understand market/customer needs, as well as identify new opportunities or make adjustments to current product offerings
  • Balances deep subject matter expertise with knowledge of business use cases and strong technical aptitude
  • Accountable for delivering product performance in alignment with expectations, and updates changes to a product portfolio to improve competitive position and produce optimal product performance to meet customer and market needs
  • Accountable for the P&L, and is responsible for cross-functional stakeholder management, to include (but not limited to) design, engineering, scrum teams, business leaders, etc., functioning as technical expert with a fluency in development concepts and modern development practices
  • Serve as the product champion and apply deep expertise to credibly represent, manage and engage with business(es)
  • Mentor and develop junior product managers, fostering a culture of growth and learning within the team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, product stakeholders, and operations, to ensure successful product development and launch
  • Prioritize and manage the product backlog, ensuring that features are delivered on time and within budget
  • Define and track key product metrics to measure success and make data-driven decisions
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and evaluate their potential impact on the product
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders, gathering feedback and incorporating it into the product roadmap


Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or any related field
  • 7+ years of proven experience as a Technical Product Manager or similar role, with a track record of successful product launches
  • 5+ years of strong technical background, with a deep understanding of software development processes and methodologies and possess an in-depth understanding of Agile product management with the best practices and frameworks
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare and specifically Provider, Utilization management


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Experience with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Less
  • Familiarity with project management tools, such as Rally and Aha
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to align product strategy with overall business goals
  • Strong customer focus, with the ability to gather and understand customer needs
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
