Full Job Description
L-H Battery Company, Inc., located in Jeffersonville, Ohio, is a Joint venture of LG Energy Solution and Honda to manufacture large lithum-ion polymer batteries. Products from L-H Battery power a variety of innovative energy storage applications.

Summary:

The Senior Tax Specialist leads complex tax compliance activities, manages multi-state tax obligations, and supports tax strategy for a large-size manufacturing facility. This position serves as a subject matter expert for indirect taxes, provides guidance to cross-functional teams, and works independently to ensure compliance, accuracy, and continuous improvement of tax processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the preparation and review of complex tax filings, reconciliations, and manufacturing-specific tax programs.
  • Prepare and file Sales and Use Tax returns and provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding taxability and applicable requirements.
  • Lead and manage state and local tax audits, including responding to information requests, coordinating with internal teams and external advisors, and resolving escalated issues.
  • Prepare tax accruals, deferred tax analyses, year-end schedules, and supporting documentation for financial reporting.
  • Monitor federal, state, and local tax legislation and regulatory changes and assess potential impacts to the business.
  • Research complex tax matters and identify opportunities to optimize tax positions while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and maintain transfer pricing documentation for related-party transactions and analyze and explain transfer pricing matters to financial auditors and tax advisors.
  • Prepare and file withholding tax returns and related documentation for parent companies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and provide tax guidance and support to cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, systems, and automation to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures and other tax-related documentation.
  • Manage multiple tax projects and priorities while ensuring timely and accurate completion of deliverables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 5 to 7+ years of progressive tax experience; manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience with indirect taxes, multi-state tax compliance, and tax audits
  • Experience with transfer pricing, withholding tax, and tax accounting preferred


Knowledge/Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of indirect taxes and multi-state tax requirements
  • Strong knowledge of tax compliance, research, and reporting processes
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and resolve complex issues
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to provide guidance to cross-functional teams
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions
  • Prompt and regular attendance within our onsite operations


Additional Requirements:
  • This role requires up to 5% of travel (domestic)
