Full Job Description
THE ROLE:

PETRONAS Canada is currently looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to join our team in Calgary on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Manager, Tax, the successful candidate will provide analysis to support the organization's corporate tax compliance, reporting, and planning initiatives and activities. The incumbent will be an integral part of the Tax team and will be involved in various aspects of tax compliance and planning in both the corporate and indirect tax areas in both Oil and Gas E&P and LNG mid-stream operations.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:
  • Assist in the preparation of corporate & partnership tax returns, elections and other necessary filings. Effectively use TaxPrep software and prepare working paper files to support the tax filings
  • Conduct research and draft technical analysis in support of tax filing positions, special projects, and tax initiatives including, but not limited to, the ITA, ETA, and BC PST
  • Prepare / Review monthly GST and PST tax filings, exemption certificates, and remittances
  • Respond to internal PST inquiries as well as third-party vendors
  • Remain up-to-date on current tax legislation (ITA / ETA / BC PST) which may affect PETRONAS Canada
  • Review various payments to non-residents and calculate appropriate withholding taxes
  • Prepare annual NR4 and T5 filings; and
  • Assist with the preparation and review of the quarterly tax provision model, related financial statement disclosures, and return to provision accrual
  • Assist with transfer pricing and international tax models and reports


WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Bachelor of Commerce (Business) degree in Accounting
  • CPA designation required
  • CICA In-Depth Tax course Level I,II. And III
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of corporate income tax experience within a range of corporate structures, including partnerships, corporations and joint ventures
  • Experience working with BC PST in the oil and gas industry considered an asset
  • SAP experience considered an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, Corporate TaxPrep & Partnership Return Software
  • Understanding of tax legislation in the Income Tax and Excise Tax Acts
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills allowing for effective interaction with all levels of the organization and business units
  • Ability to perform under a high degree of autonomy while also excelling in a team-based collaborative environment
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
