Full Job Description
This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.

In the Sr Tax Accountant - Income Tax Audit position, you are responsible for the preparation of responses to state and local income tax audits and analyzing tax assessments issued by taxing authorities. In this role, your responsibilities will also involve analyzing and interpreting tax laws, regulations, and legislation affecting corporate and partnership taxation issues to determine the impacts on the Company.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Preparing responses to state income tax audit requests using tax returns, workpapers, ERP data, public financial records, tax position memorandums, and various other records of the Company.
  • Coordinating audit data requests with the compliance team, other Business Departments, and external parties.
  • Analyzing, summarizing, and presenting audit adjustments/assessments issued by taxing authorities to management.
  • Researching factual and legal aspects of audit issues and exposures to anticipate the impact of potential audit adjustments based upon tax return positions and related reserves.
  • Making initial determinations and recommendations for the resolution of audit issues.
  • Assisting with the resolution of audit issues and deficiencies via settlement negotiations or appeals process.
  • Researching technical issues and modeling potential settlement resolutions for audit protests and appeals.
  • Supporting state tax policy efforts by reviewing and analyzing related federal, state, and local income tax legislative developments.
  • Researching, analyzing, and modeling the impact of income tax legislative proposals.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a combination of education and experience

Experience
  • 3 - 5 years of business tax return preparation, review and related research experience

Skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of corporate federal and state income tax returns
  • Experience with consolidated corporate and partnership returns
  • Proficient with state income tax concepts (apportionment and unitary/separate reporting, modifications, etc.)
  • Proficient with tax research databases (Checkpoint and Bloomberg BNA)
  • Proficient and extensive use of Microsoft Excel (including advanced use of formulas), Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong research, analytical, interpretation and presentation skills
  • Effective team player and able to work independently
  • Adapts quickly to changing conditions and assists others in handling new situations
  • Ability to make decisions, solve problems, manage multiple projects, stay focused and meet deadlines
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Preferred Qualifications
  • Big 4 public accounting experience
  • Advanced degree such as Masters in Accounting with a concentration in Tax
  • CPA Licensure
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Peoplesoft, SAP and JDE)
  • Experience with corporate income tax provision and accounting for uncertain tax positions
  • Exposure to Alteryx
  • Exposure to AI systems
