Senior Tax Accountant

Job Summary:

The Senior Tax Accountant provides high-quality accounting and tax services for clients including tax planning, tax return preparation, and business consulting. The Senior Tax Accountant makes decisions on all but the most unusual accounting and tax matters. This position works closely with all partners and staff. The Senior Tax Accountant has direct contact with clients from a variety of industries.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares highly complex income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, not-for-profit organizations and retirement plans.
  • Quantifies and documents federal and state income tax liabilities for tax returns, extensions and estimated payments.
  • Prepares complex multi-state tax returns.
  • Performs research on technical tax issues.
  • Assists associate and staff accountants with general tax return issues.
  • Prepares schedules, account analyses, worksheets, and projects as requested by Manager or Partner.
  • Prepares and analyzes tax planning projections.
  • Interacts frequently with clients for the purpose of assisting them with their needs or gathering missing information.
  • Communicates with government examiners and agents regarding client tax issues and examinations.
  • Leads and supervises a team of junior accountants, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to foster professional growth and development.
  • Keeps up-to-date on current accounting practices and changes in tax law.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of the firm and its clients.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, preferably Master's degree in taxation
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting
  • Have a current and valid Certified Public Accountant license or be actively pursuing license
  • Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical ability and judgement
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced environment
