Full Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Systems Software Engineer with deep knowledge of RTOS and software safety standards to help bring GFN's real-time streaming technology to automotive platforms. You'll work at the intersection of real-time media streaming and safety-critical software development, adapting and hardening our streaming pipelines to meet the reliability, determinism, and certification demands of in-vehicle systems. If you're excited by the challenge of reimagining low-latency interactive streaming for an exacting environment, this team is the place to be. What You Will Be Doing: • Extend and adapt GFN's low-latency streaming stack to RTOS platforms (e.g., QNX, AUTOSAR Adaptive/Classic) to meet strict determinism, timing, and partitioning requirements • Develop QM-classified streaming software with freedom-from-interference awareness, ensuring architectural isolation from ASIL-rated components per ISO 26262 standard • Collaborate with functional safety teams to ensure streaming components meet freedom-from-interference and resource-partitioning requirements relative to colocated safety-critical systems • Build and evolve test infrastructure and tools to validate real-time performance and fault-tolerance behavior for automotive streaming scenarios • Define and monitor performance/safety metrics and drive continuous product improvement • Review code and design across the team, and help evolve team engineering and safety processes What We Need to See: • Proficiency in C/C++, with strong systems software programming and open-box debugging skills • Hands-on experience with development, debugging, and performance tuning of real-time, latency-sensitive software in QNX or other RTOS environments for automotive or a similar safety-critical domain • Solid understanding of ISO 26262 classification concepts (QM vs. ASIL) and freedom-from-interference/partitioning principles • Experience with real-time video/audio pipelines including encoding, decoding, network protocols (RTP/ RTCP/ SRTP), and QoS algorithms (Adaptive streaming, FEC, L4S, ECN) • Understanding of deterministic, thread-safe and memory-safe coding practices • BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years of experience in above areas Ways to Stand Out From the Crowd: • Experience with automotive SoCs, hypervisors • Background in interactive, latency-sensitive streaming applications such as gaming, video conferencing, cloud streaming • Exposure to automotive cybersecurity standards (ISO 21434) alongside functional safety • Background with automotive connectivity: TCU integration, cellular (LTE/5G) link behavior, link bonding or failover, and designing around variable and lossy last-mile networks • Experience employing agentic tools for code and documentation Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD for Level 4, and 224,000 USD - 356,500 USD for Level 5. You will also be eligible for equity and .
