Job Description

SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in support of critical Department of Defense (DoD) Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) programs. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background in systems engineering principles, military communications architectures, and DoD acquisition processes, combined with the ability to lead complex technical efforts and collaborate effectively across government, contractor, and operational stakeholder communities. Serves as a technical authority, providing engineering expertise and leadership for the sustainment, enhancement, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of complex naval systems supporting the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) at Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC).

This role is ON-SITE in SAN DIEGO, CA, must be local to area.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise for system engineering, including design modifications, upgrades, and technology insertion to extend the lifecycle of deployed systems.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of system architecture, schematics, specifications, interfaces, and capabilities.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and diagnose performance issues with deployed systems, leveraging advanced troubleshooting skills and analytical tools.
  • Develop and recommend technical solutions for emergent system issues, collaborating with fleet support teams, vendors, and government stakeholders as necessary.
  • Interface with fleet operators, maintainers, and program stakeholders to gather metrics and feedback on system performance in operational environments.
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), including documentation of engineering design changes, hardware/software updates, and product improvement efforts.
  • Develop and review engineering documents, technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and training materials to ensure accuracy and clarity for end users.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional working groups to develop long-term sustainment and modernization strategies for legacy and next-generation systems.


Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's and five (5) years or more relative experience.
  • Previous experience supporting DoD programs
  • Demonstrated expertise in C4I systems design, integration, and sustainment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance to Start.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance after start.
  • Extensive knowledge in drafting naval systems, lifecycle sustainment, and fleet support for mission-critical platforms or systems.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, ISEA roles and responsibilities, and configuration management principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirements.
    DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Experienced in the development, review, and management of engineering drawing packages supporting C4I system design, installation, modification, and sustainment activities across shore and shipboard environments.
  • Proficient in producing a full range of engineering drawings including:
    • System block diagrams
    • Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
    • Cable and interconnect diagrams
    • Rack and enclosure elevation drawings
    • Equipment installation and mounting drawings
    • Site layout and floor plan drawings
    • Interface control drawings (ICDs)
    • As-built and red-line drawings
  • Proficient in CAD tools including AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks for 2D and 3D drawing development.
