We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our advanced engineering team specializing in multi-sensor EO/IR, gyro-stabilized gimbals. This role combines hands-on technical leadership, product support, customer integration, and mentorship of our growing US-based engineering team. The ideal candidate will bring 5-8 years of electro-mechanical systems experience and thrive in a dynamic environment supporting both mature and next-generation gimbal systems.

This position is based out of our Belgrade, MT office, requiring significant collaboration with our Melbourne, Australia office. The role involves up to 25% travel for hands-on testing activities and customer site visits.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead local product testing, validation, and engineering support for advanced gimbal platforms, coordinating test activities and providing systems engineering expertise for design accommodations and troubleshooting
  • Support customer integration activities and product rollouts, providing technical support and engineering presence for US-based customers
  • Serve as local engineering point of contact for product upgrades, RMAs, and technical program support, providing critical engineering backup to program management
  • Collaborate with greater engineering team offsite in providing system level feedback and design input.
  • Lead product test events or customer demonstrations for R&D or sales.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineering team members, bringing external experience from mature engineering organizations to foster technical growth
  • Provide technical representation in customer meetings, sales activities, and field support scenarios
  • Respond to production issues and customer site challenges, working collaboratively with field service teams
  • Contribute to custom product developments, continuous improvement initiatives, and represent customer technical needs in product planning discussions


Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar discipline with relevant experience
  • 5-8 years of professional engineering experience
  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems design, integration, or support
  • Strong problem-solving and systems-level thinking abilities
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to interface with customers, sales teams, and cross-functional engineering groups
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities


Desired:
  • Experience with optical systems or EO/IR sensors
  • Experience with gyro-stabilized platforms or gimbal systems
  • Experience with laser systems and laser safety protocols
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate (drone pilot)
  • Background in defense or aerospace industry
  • Familiarity with test and validation processes for complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience supporting product integration at customer sites
  • Knowledge of RMA processes and field service support
  • Understanding of Requirements Management and Systems Engineering best practices
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing support and production issue resolution
  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Experience with CUAS systems or similar

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
