Senior Systems Engineer

The Boeing Acoustic Programs (AP) within BDS Space, Intelligence, and Weapon Systems (SI&WS) is seeking a motivated Senior Systems Engineer for our team based in Huntington Beach, CA.

Acoustic Programs deliver complex solutions in some of the most challenging environments on Earth, focusing on the underwater and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) domain through a diverse portfolio of products.

The ideal candidate will have experience across all phases of the engineering lifecycle, including requirements development, test plan creation, and test execution. Proficiency with DOORS for managing and updating requirements is essential. Additionally, candidates should possess project management skills to effectively define and track cost, schedule, and technical performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead evaluation of customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces

  • Develop requirements & manage requirements in DOORS

  • Define and execute test plans for integration verification, data integrity, and performance, engage in system integration testing and support system acceptance testing

  • Define and track cost, schedule, and technical aspects of the project

  • Lead analysis to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture

  • Lead and support cross-functional teams, working groups, programming, and customer meetings and technical design reviews

  • Prepare program briefings, status reports, and technical deliverables

  • Create and implement strategic approaches for program and business area decisions

  • Identify and track engineering performance metrics

  • Identify technical risks, issues, and opportunities; develop and execute plans for risk mitigation, issue resolution, and opportunity capture

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).  (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • Experience with the system engineering development lifecycle (V-Model)

  • Knowledge of MBSE concepts and application

  • Experience with Requirements Management Tools (i.e. DOORS)

  • Experience with software architecture and development processes

  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)

  • 7+ years related systems engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASUW), or maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems

  • Experience with and / or support of multiple platforms used to support underwater acoustics including P-3, P-8A, MH-60R, submarines and Unmanned Autonomous Vehicles (UAVs)

  • Experience with export-related material and international customers.

  • Experience on a US Navy program.

  • Experience applying MBSE concepts to engineering lifecycle
