Full Job Description
Job Summary
The Senior Systems DevOps Engineer will support the Systems Test Automation team responsible for the Omnipod ecosystem, including the Pod, PDM, CGM integrations, and Cloud platforms. This role focuses on maintaining and enhancing CI/CD infrastructure, Bamboo and Jenkins environments, test automation frameworks, and hardware-based laboratory systems used for automated end-to-end testing. The ideal candidate will have strong DevOps expertise, experience with automation and infrastructure management, and the ability to improve and standardize existing processes while supporting both software and hardware testing environments. The position is based in Acton, MA and requires a minimum of three days onsite each week.
The individual in this position will collaborate closely with Systems Automation, Systems Design Verification, Systems Engineering, and Quality teams to define and execute the Systems DevOps strategy, roadmap, priorities, and execution plans. The Senior Systems DevOps Engineer will drive the development of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code solutions, and automated test environments that enable efficient system-level automation across multiple product platforms and releases.
The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader responsible for advancing Systems Automation DevOps capabilities, improving operational efficiency, ensuring infrastructure reliability, and promoting standardization of tools, processes, and best practices across the organization. This role requires strong technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support automated build, test, deployment, and release processes.
  • Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux-based development, test, and production environments.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation frameworks, scripts, and tools to improve operational efficiency and system reliability.
  • Lead containerization and orchestration initiatives using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes to improve scalability, consistency, and deployment efficiency.
  • Design, deploy, and support MQTT-based messaging infrastructure, including brokers, agents, and communication services.
  • Manage and enhance DevOps platforms, deployment systems, and test automation infrastructure supporting Systems Integration and laboratory environments.
  • Collaborate with Software Development, QA, Systems Engineering, Operations, and IT teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable deployment and testing solutions.
  • Support laboratory infrastructure, including network connectivity, servers, storage systems, and hardware-based test environments.
  • Drive platform reliability through monitoring, observability, alerting, logging, performance tuning, and proactive maintenance.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to improve system stability, availability, and recovery capabilities.
  • Manage application releases and coordinate deployment activities across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Establish and promote DevOps best practices for code integration, deployment automation, configuration management, security, and system monitoring.
  • Evaluate and implement improvements to architecture, scalability, resilience, disaster recovery, and operational readiness.
  • Review, enhance, and extend existing tools, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation frameworks.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment procedures, operational runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Develop innovative testing methodologies and provide recommendations to improve product quality, system performance, and design robustness.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineers while supporting project planning, estimation, and execution.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.


Basic Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in DevOps Engineering, Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Infrastructure Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and DevOps workflows.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing, integrating, and troubleshooting embedded systems, development boards (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi), and hardware/software interfaces supporting automated testing and system integration.
  • At least 3 years of experience integrating Android and iOS devices into automated testing and CI/CD environments.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills in Python and Java.
  • Experience with Linux-based systems, source control, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Linux and macOS administration experience.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and supporting MQTT-based messaging solutions in distributed environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining large-scale automated testing, validation, and hardware automation environments.
  • Experience integrating embedded hardware, mobile devices, and cloud services into automated workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of observability, monitoring, logging, reliability engineering, and GitOps practices.
  • Experience flashing, configuring, and troubleshooting embedded systems and development boards.
  • Knowledge of Android and/or iOS platforms, including Xcode and mobile build automation.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and secure software delivery practices.
  • Experience working in regulated environments, including FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 62304, or other medical device standards.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development, automation, and troubleshooting tools to improve engineering productivity.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring, and experience leading small cross-functional teams.


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move equipment weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to reach overhead when working with laboratory and test equipment.

Travel & Work Location Requirements
  • Minimal travel required.
  • Hybrid position based in Acton, MA.
  • Must be able to work onsite a minimum of three days per week.
