Full Job Description
The Senior Systems and Production Technology Engineer works closely with Corporate IT, engineering, security, and studio teams to deliver reliable technology solutions for production partners. This role is responsible for creating, managing, and deploying software packages to production systems, supporting artist workstations and post-production environments, and managing storage infrastructure. The Senior Systems and Production Technology Engineer combines systems administration, production technology support, deployment automation, and technical ownership to ensure production systems remain secure, stable, and operational. What will you do? • Manage software and plugin deployments across Windows and Linux systems. • Build and maintain software deployment packages and develop scripts to improve deployment efficiency, reliability, and consistency. • Support post-production edit bays, artist workstations, and production technology systems. • Lead onsite rollout of upgrades and production system changes while minimizing disruption to business operations. • Serve as the onsite technical decision-maker during upgrades, including rollback or abort decisions to protect production continuity. • Provide remote and onsite (Burbank) technical support for major show and production technology incidents. • Evaluate, recommend, and help implement technologies aligned with studio and production technical requirements. • Demonstrate technical ownership by proactively managing projects, identifying risks, and driving work to completion. • Create and maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for both technical and non-technical users. • Develop and maintain system health monitoring dashboards, operational reporting, and alerting. • Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site. What do you need to succeed? • 5+ years of systems administration, systems engineering, or equivalent infrastructure experience. • 3+ years of experience supporting IT infrastructure and production technologies in a film, television, or episodic post-production environment. • Extensive experience creating, managing, and deploying software packages using Ansible. • Extensive experience supporting Windows and Linux operating systems. • Experience working in a studio environment and supporting technologies such as Nuke, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Creative Cloud, Unreal Engine, Baselight, RV, Deadline, OpenCue, Aspera, Pixstor, Qumulo, or similar post-production and media transport technologies. • Systems development and automation experience using Terraform, Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies. • Experience supporting remote workstation and connection workflows, including Leostream, HP Anyware/TGX, or NICE DCV. • Experience designing, architecting, and maintaining infrastructure supporting media production and post-production workflows. • Experience designing, building, and supporting hybrid cloud environments. • Familiarity with TPN, PCI, or related data security standards. • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally to deliver technical solutions and projects. • Strong situational awareness and sound technical judgment to quickly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in production environments. • This role requires a "production-minded" and customer centric work ethic helping to maintain the high level of quality associated with the MSG Sphere. #LI-Onsite Pay Range $120,000-$190,000 USD At MSG, we recognize the importance of upskilling employees' talents and strengths so they can drive their careers forward.
