The Senior Systems Administrator leads a small team responsible for managing and maintaining a Microsoft infrastructure in a mostly VMware virtual environment including, but not limited to: operating systems, Exchange email infrastructure, patching, and backups; as well as assisting leadership on projects as needed. The incumbent will be charged with being a "go to" resource on virtualization, SAN technologies, server hardware, operating systems (client and server), and application software. Other duties will include performance management, coaching and development for staff; assistance and support for strategic and budget planning activities; and general assistance and support for leadership, the department, and company as required.
Schedule can vary, but is generally 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday
Essential Job Duties:
1. Prepare, maintain, and uphold procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring server performance.
2. Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
3. Purchase and install new standardized server hardware.
4. Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure server products and services.
5. Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data in accordance to business needs and industry best practices.
6. Manage a Microsoft Exchange environment including mailboxes, distribution groups, and other Exchange policies; enterprise antivirus and client security solution; and internal company contact directory.
7. Manage end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
8. Manage a VMware virtual infrastructure; propose, develop, and deliver infrastructure improvement projects.
9. Performance management, coaching, and development for staff; hiring, training, and scheduling.
Qualifications:
1. Two or four-year degree in the field of Computer Science, Information Technology, strongly preferred. Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred.
2. Eight (8) years of related IT experience. Equivalent combination of education/experience may be considered.
3. Extensive experience with: network, PC, and platform operating systems; systems software, protocols, and standards (MS Exchange 2013, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP); mobile device management; high availability design; storage/server virtualization technologies; patch management; change control practices; software/hardware troubleshooting; documenting/maintaining configurations.
4. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of world class internal/external guest service; proven leadership skills; ability to build/develop/motivate teams.
5. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; conveys technical information clearly, concisely, and effectively at all levels; adept at reading/writing tech materials; builds positive professional working relationships across the company.
6. Excellent planning, project management, organizational skills; prioritizes work and adapts; keen attention to details; focus on quality, security, service.
7. Proactive, exercises good judgment; problem solver; anticipates/troubleshoots.
8. Maintains confidentiality, high ethical standards; reflects company core values.
Physical Requirements:
1. The incumbent will work in an office environment.
2. The incumbent will be required to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.
3. Must be able to walk/stand; climb stairs; stoop, bend, reach overhead; and work in various environments with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.
4. Must have valid driver's license and be at least 19 years of age.
5. Will perform 24-hour call responsibilities supporting IT Operations on a rotating weekly schedule (yearly average of ~5 days / month). Additionally, the incumbent will be generally reachable if a core business system failure occurs.
