JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Opportunity
This position works out of our Irving, TX location in the Core Diagnostics Business Unit.

As the Senior Systems Engineering Manager, you’ll have the chance to have direct oversight and accountability for our diagnostics analyzers as a total system.

We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision-making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people. 

What You’ll Work On

  • Direct accountability for the overall systems management related to on-market diagnostics products.

  • Short-term operational/tactical responsibilities related to field and factory performance.

  • Manage teams responsible for investigations and risk management as well as product performance monitoring.

  • Makes decisions related to emerging product issues and elevates to senior management in a timely manner with recommendations.

  • Responsible for the activities related to the development of a product or line of products, as well as the improvement of existing products and technology.

  • Manages the design analysis on components and/or assemblies to develop process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable, and reliable.

  • Communicates with senior management to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion.

  • Helps to formulate business plans to develop and implement products and strategies.

  • Responsible for identifying and investigating emerging new product opportunities within a defined range of responsibility.

  • Implements business plans and creatively solves product design, financial, marketing, or administrative problems.

  • Responsible for maintaining knowledge of new trends and products in the appropriate markets.

  • Responsible for development of staff and organizational engagement to achieve business and talent objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years Supervisory/managerial experience.

  • Minimum 7 years Progressively more medical device company experience or relevant systems experience in a clinic/hospital/university environment.

  • Demonstrated understanding and familiarity with applicable FDA regulations, and other relevant clinical/regulatory requirements.

  • Full understanding and experience with the software design and development in the regulated environment.  Demonstrated working knowledge of appropriate domestic/international regulatory standards, understanding of the data management in the clinical trial lifecycle, and familiarity with the software validation practices is also required. Academic or in-house courses in leadership, training, Total Quality Management (TQM), relational database programs, plus cardiac packing, are preferred.

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.  Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable. Ability to travel, including internationally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong Data Analytics including at least 2 years of experience of demonstration in this area.

The base pay for this position is

$129,300.00 – $258,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
