Full Job Description
This position will support an upcoming correctional facility project. Previous experience managing the construction of correctional facilities, detention centers, jails, prisons, or other secure institutional facilities is strongly preferred.

Job Duties and Responsilibities:
  • Provide overall field leadership and day-to-day supervision of construction activities.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and direct subcontractors, craft personnel, vendors, and field staff.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with contractual requirements, plans and specifications, applicable codes, and established quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain short-term and overall project schedules, including sequencing of trades and critical construction activities.
  • Proactively identify and resolve field issues that could impact safety, quality, cost, or schedule.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Maintain daily field reports, schedule updates, manpower information, and other required project documentation.
  • Implement and enforce project safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead and participate in preconstruction, subcontractor, progress, coordination, and owner meetings.
  • Monitor field staffing needs, evaluate performance, and provide leadership and direction to project personnel.
  • Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, project team, owner, design team, and subcontractors throughout construction.
  • Manage construction activities associated with secure areas and ensure work complies with project-specific security requirements and procedures.
  • Coordinate installation and integration of correctional facility systems, including detention equipment, security electronics, access control, surveillance, communications, and other security-related systems as applicable.
  • Manage complex MEPF coordination and ensure proper integration with security and detention systems.
  • Coordinate phased construction, controlled access, security protocols, and other logistical requirements associated with correctional environments.
  • Oversee punch list, testing, commissioning, inspections, and turnover of secure and operational areas.

Requirements:
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to manage field employees, subcontractors, and large construction teams.
  • Extensive general contracting experience including concrete, structural steel, light-gauge metal framing, building envelope, interior and exterior finishes, and advanced MEPF systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and manage construction documents, plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Ability to identify quality workmanship as it relates to building codes, industry standards, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong scheduling experience with the ability to develop, maintain, and drive both master and short-interval project schedules.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, quality control, inspections, commissioning, and project turnover.
  • Ability to work effectively with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Must be willing to relocate or travel as required by the project.

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience as a project superintendent with 15+ years of total construction experience preferred.
  • Prior correctional facility construction experience strongly preferred, including prisons, jails, detention centers, or similar secure institutional facilities.
  • Experience managing large, complex commercial, institutional, or government construction projects.
  • Experience with detention equipment and security-related systems is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing complex MEPF systems, project schedules, subcontractor coordination, inspections, and owner relationships.
  • Experience successfully taking projects through commissioning, substantial completion, and final turnover.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully operate in a highly controlled project environment with strict security, access, documentation, and scheduling requirements.
