The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible forsupporting the financial accounting, reporting, and month-end close activities.This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy of financial records,maintaining strong internal controls, supporting project accounting activities,and providing timely financial information to management.
The Senior Staff Accountant works closely with theAssistant Controller, project managers, operations leaders, payroll, accountspayable, and other accounting team members to ensure accurate job costreporting, proper accounting treatment of transactions, and efficientaccounting processes.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Financial Accounting & Month-End Close
• Prepare and record journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and analysis.
• Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate/resolution of reconciling items.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Prepare detailed account analyses, variance explanations, and supporting schedules.
• Review financial results for reasonableness and identify unusual transactions or trends requiring further investigation.
• Assist in preparation of monthly internal financial reporting packages and management reports.
• Support annual financial statement audits and provide requested schedules and documentation.
• Maintain organized workpapers supporting accounting transactions and account balances.
Construction Accounting & Job Cost Support
• Support accurate job cost reporting by reviewing labor, equipment, subcontract, material, and other project costs.
• Analyze job cost transactions and assist in identifying coding errors, unusual activity, and opportunities for improved accuracy.
• Assist with contract accounting, including revenue recognition, cost tracking, and project closeout activities.
• Support work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and assist in preparing schedules used by management.
• Assist operations teams with understanding financial information related to projects.
• Partner with project managers and field personnel to improve financial data quality and compliance with accounting procedures.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
• Ensure compliance with established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, standardize processes, and leverage technology.
• Assist in development and maintenance of accounting standard operating procedures and process documentation.
• Participate in ERP enhancements, testing, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
• Promote accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across accounting processes.
Business Partnership & Communication
• Build strong working relationships with project managers, operations leaders, payroll, accounts payable, and other departments.
• Serve as a reliable accounting resource by researching and resolving questions in a timely manner.
• Communicate accounting issues and recommendations clearly to both financial and operational personnel.
• Assist with special projects, financial analyses, and other business initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, data analysis, and reporting.
• Experience working with accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
Preferred Education and Experience
• 5+ years of accounting experience with progressive responsibility.
• Experience in construction accounting, including job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition.
• Experience with Viewpoint Vista or other construction ERP systems.
• Experience supporting multiple entities or operating companies.
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification.
Compensation:Competitive wage commensurate with experience. Excellent benefit package including company paid health, dental and vision insurance with a company-funded retirement plan.
Salary Range $85,000 - $100,000
Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, overtime when applicable, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
