Senior SQL Server & .NET API Developer (Azure)

What You Will Do

Guidehouse is seeking a Senior SQL Server & .NET API Developer to support the enhancement, maintenance, and deployment of a mission-critical federal application hosted in Microsoft Azure.

This role is ideal for a developer whose primary expertise is SQL Server application development and database-centric solution architecture. The application relies heavily on SQL Server for business logic, data processing, security enforcement, and reporting. .NET Web APIs serve primarily as a secure integration layer between SQL Server, Azure-hosted services, Microsoft Power Platform solutions, and consuming applications.

The successful candidate will have deep experience designing and supporting SQL-based solutions, implementing secure data access patterns, and developing API integrations within Azure-hosted environments. This position will work closely with architects, business analysts, Power Platform developers, and government stakeholders to deliver new functionality and support ongoing modernization efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and optimize SQL Server database solutions supporting mission-critical business processes.
  • Create and modify complex stored procedures, views, functions, triggers, and other database objects.
  • Implement database security controls including Row-Level Security (RLS), Security Predicates, and secure data access patterns.
  • Analyze and tune SQL Server performance, query execution plans, indexing strategies, and database workloads.
  • Develop and maintain .NET Web APIs that provide secure access to application data and services.
  • Support Azure-hosted application components including Azure App Services and Azure Function Apps.
  • Implement authentication and authorization using Azure Active Directory and Azure App Registrations.
  • Collaborate with solution architects and technical leads on application enhancements, modernization initiatives, and roadmap activities.
  • Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, defect resolution, testing, deployment, and production support activities.
  • Support system integration efforts with Microsoft Power Platform and other enterprise applications.
  • Develop technical documentation, implementation guidance, operational procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, and continuous improvement activities.

What You Will Need

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "public trust"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their public trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Five (5)+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Microsoft technologies.
  • Expert-level experience with Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Experience implementing Row-Level Security (RLS) and data access controls.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs using .NET and C#.

  • Experience implementing Azure Active Directory authentication and Azure App Registrations.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What Would Be Nice To Have

  • Experience with Azure Function Apps.
  • Experience integrating with Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Experience developing Power Apps Canvas Applications.
  • Experience supporting federal government systems.
  • Familiarity with DOJ or GCC High environments.
