About the RoleAs a Senior Specialist Quality Assurance - Backend, you will build and maintain end-to-end quality automation for Rothera's core Exchange, Clearing, and Instrument Management systems. You will execute our testing strategy, contribute to our automation standards, and collaborate with Engineering and Product partners to ensure our platform meets the high reliability and compliance standards required for our CFTC-regulated environment.
What You'll Do1. Testing Framework
- Design, write and execute scalable backend test automation frameworks using Java and Cucumber, translating complex business logic into Gherkin feature files while integrating automated FIX, WebSocket, and database validations into CI/CD pipelines.
2. Platform Testing
- Rigorously test all interfaces, encompassing both those designed for internal consumption and those exposed to external users (e.g. FIX protocol, proprietary binary message formats, incoming and outgoing file formats).
- Perform testing of Admin and Customer user interfaces using automated tools like Playwright and manual test cases.
- Ensure proper functionality, data integrity, security compliance and performance under expected load.
3. Quality Strategy & Reporting
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to define and enforce rigorous quality standards.
- Monitor test platform system performance, data integrity, and security compliance to ensure the platform meets the demands of a high-stakes regulated exchange.
What You'll BringRequired Qualifications & Skills:- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in a quality assurance or software testing role, with a proven track record in complex financial systems.
- Strong Proficiency in Java, Python, FIX, SQL .
- Experience with testing tools such as Cucumber, Playwright and JUnit and familiar with test reporting and analysis.
- Experience with derivative contracts (futures, options) and financial markets is preferred.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical direction and simplify complex quality concepts for non-technical leadership.
- Strong autonomy in managing multiple high-priority quality workstreams while fostering a culture of mentorship and collaborative excellence.
- Proactive problem-solving mindset, focusing on systemic reliability and identifying potential risks before they impact production.
Benefits & CompensationThis position has a base salary of $140,000 to $160,000 per year, plus participation in a discretionary annual incentive bonus program.
