Overview

The Software Development Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring high-quality, reliable, and scalable software delivery across the full development lifecycle. This role focuses on building robust testing strategies, executing both manual and automated tests, validating complex system integrations, and improving quality engineering practices across the organization. The Senior Software Test Enggineer works closely with product, development, DevOps, and agile teams to implement end-to-end quality solutions. Candidate must currently reside in Colorado Springs, CO, Chesapeake, VA, Dayton, OH, or Hunstville, Alabama.  Candidates must currently hold a TS or TS/SCI active clearance.  

Responsibilities

This role requires the understanding of End-to-End Software Testing, being versed in various automation tools, and the ability to develop relationships with development partners. 

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Define acceptance criteria and test steps for stories and tests in accordance with the Scaled Agile Framework 
  • Create comprehensive test plans covering functional, performance, usability, security, and regression testing. 
  • Participate in design and requirement reviews to identify quality risks early. 
  • Analyze test results and performance issues coordinate with agile teams on corrective action. 
  • Collaborate with Product Management on Agile Release Train features, definitions of done and acceptance criteria. 
  • Develop detailed test cases and test scripts for both manual and automated testing. 
  • Design and develop test automation scripts to create, enhance, debug, and run test cases. 
  • Develop test scenarios and environment for performance testing (UI, API, integration, end-to-end). 
  • Engineer tests that simulate real-world usage across the full stack.  
  • Review and recommend improvements in existing test procedures. 
  • Ensure data flows, integrations and user paths work correctly across environments.  
  • Coordination with the testing team to develop performance test plans and cases. 
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.  
  • Work closely with Agile teams to define quality gates and automated metric reporting. 
  • Promote shift-left testing and increase testability within the product. 
Education/Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. 
  • A minimum of a DoD Secret Clearance is required (TS or TS/SCI Eligible). 
  • 8+ years' directly related, professional experience. 
  • Strong experience with test automation frameworks for UI, API, and integration testing. 
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates. 
  • Experience testing distributed systems, microservices, or cloud-based platforms. 
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and modern development practices. 
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills. 
  • Experience with programming and test automation tools (i.e. Python, Ansible, UNIX shell). 
  • Linux/Windows Systems experience. 
  • Experience with Azure, AWS, or other cloud environments. 

 

For this role, the compensation range for candidates in Colorado is $140K- 165K.

*Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. FTI has a location-based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
