Full Job Description
ANA is headquartered in Henderson, Nevada, with locations in Cypress, California and Spartanburg, South Carolina. ANA is growing and scaling, and we are seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer - Energy Systems Verification to join our team in an onsite role in Henderson, Nevada. In this role, you will own test definition and test execution of the energy systems we build and the software that runs them, proving out generator, hybrid energy, and load bank behavior alongside the edge and cloud platform that monitors and controls it. You will also own the test infrastructure that makes that verification repeatable, working closely with development teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and execute the test strategy behind every release. This is a fully onsite position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. This role reports to the Director of Software Development. Role & Responsibilities: Energy Systems Test & Verification: • Define and execute verification plans for power system behavior, including load acceptance and rejection, paralleling and load sharing, generator start/stop and transfer sequences, load modeling and sim, battery charge/discharge management, hybrid dispatch logic, and battery performance measurement. • Build and operate bench, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop setups that exercise controllers, gateways, and edge devices against realistic site and load conditions before anything reaches a customer. • Integrate and perform testing with load banks, CAN bus logic analyzers, multimeters, and other automated test equipment. • Validate end-to-end data integrity confirming that values, units, timestamps, and alarm states surfaced in dashboards, reports, and notifications match what the equipment actually did. • Maintain traceability from requirements to test cases to results, producing the verification record that supports customer, safety, and compliance review. • Assume ownership of the test configuration including the units under test, test equipment, and lab space/lab configuration. Software Team and Stakeholder Collaboration: • Partner with development teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate product and system requirements into test objectives, scope, and schedules. • Participate in project planning and design reviews, and provide regular updates on verification progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders. • Prioritize verification effort based on safety impact, risk, business impact, and coverage so testing lands where it matters most. • Translate equipment and field behavior into terms software engineers can act on, and software constraints into terms product and service teams can act on. • Foster a culture of collaboration by driving clear communication and teamwork within the team. • Mentor and guide junior test engineers, providing technical leadership and support. • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. • 5-10 years of experience in software testing, with a focus on project-level test management and leadership. • 3+ years experience testing and validating hybrid energy systems. • Proficient using Embedded Linux, Docker, Python, Modbus TCP/RTU, and Canbus for developing and testing hybrid energy systems. • Proficient testing RESTful and/or event-driven APIs using python and pytest. • Proficient with SCM tools and methodologies including Git, GitHub, and CI/CD. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Hands-on experience verifying hardware-connected or physically-backed systems, reading behavior from device logs, telemetry, and bench instrumentation rather than application output alone. Preferred Qualifications: • Familiar with Inverters, BMS systems, batteries, and power generation systems. • Familiar with network protocols such as MQTT and TCP/IP for IoT and telematics data ingestion. • Familiar with software development and debugging tools such as VS Code. • Familiar with hardware/software integration such as J1939, CANopen, and RS-485. • Experience collaborating with external development partners or outsourced engineering teams on shared codebases. • Experience with Energy Management System, power system, and microgrid control algorithms. • Familiar with industry standards such as UL-2200, IEEE 2030, 61850, 62898, and [redacted], and ISO 15118. • Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE).
